Amy Goldsmith RD, LDN, a dietitian for 16 years

Amy Goldsmith RD, LDN, a dietitian for 16 years, specializes in assessment and treatment of Disordered
Eating to include Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Orthorexia, Avoidant
Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, and Emotional Eating. Eating Disorders is one of Amy’s specialties’ and
she has treated thousands of clients through recovery. Amy collaborates with a team of therapists,
Physicians, and Psychiatrists to ensure all clients are receiving the collaborative care they need. In
addition Amy works with many inpatient facilities. Since Eating Disorder Care is not often linear, there
may be times a high acuity level of care is recommended. Sheppard Pratt, The Center for Discovery,
Renfrew, and Reflections are just a few of the centers Amy works closely with to ensure there is a
smooth transition of care.
The Dietitian is an integral part of the Eating Disorder Team. Amy focuses on Clinical Assessments to
include weight/height, growth rate, signs and symptoms of malnutrition, vitamin deficiencies and more.
Amy focuses on the following when initially meeting with a new client:
-Etiology
-Weight Loss or Gain pattern
-Calorie Restrictions or Counting Patterns
-Fear Foods
-Hunger/Satiety Assessments
-Clinical laboratory review
-Exercise Compulsions or Restrictions
-Triggers
Once a rapport is established and weight is restored Amy works collaboratively with the therapy and
Physician team to provide education on proper nutrition, hunger/satiety, flexibility, body image, and
confidence as it relates to fueling the body. Amy may request laboratory work at any given time to
assess compliance and metabolism. We also work with Spectracell, a laboratory company, who comes to
our office monthly to draw Micronutrients, Thyroid/Adrenal, and hormone panels.
The collaboration of a team is very important for recovery and Amy discusses treatment and goals
routinely to ensure treatment is appropriate.
