June 27, 2016 26th Ave N. Concrete Paving Begins Wednesday June 29th The concrete roadway paving along 26th Ave N from just east of W Broadway Ave through the intersection of Logan Ave N is tentatively scheduled to begin Wednesday June 29. Starting at the end of the day on Monday June 27th all residents and businesses who access their property directly off of 26th Ave N are encouraged to begin parking on the north - south cross streets, as there will be a number of preparations which may make access into and out of driveways directly on 26th Ave N difficult. What to Expect By the end of the day today, 26th Ave N, and all cross streets east of Broadway Ave through Logan Ave N, will be closed off to traffic. On Wednesday the roadway will be paved, starting at Broadway Ave and heading east, crews will go as far as possible on Wednesday and completing the roadway paving on Thursday. After the concrete placement, the new pavement will be sawed in the evening and into the night. This night work is necessary as the concrete must be sawed a few hours after it has been placed. Starting Friday July 1, paving on the north-south cross streets will begin. Curing time for the roadway concrete will take about 1 week and access to driveways and alleys off 26th Ave N will remain closed seven to eight days when concrete is curing. Following the roadway paving, curb and gutter, driveway & alley aprons and sidewalk will be placed. Once these concrete structures are poured they again will be blocked off to allow the fresh pavement to cure. If the approach to your driveway is on 26th Ave. N, we will notify you in advance of placing your new driveway approach and ask you to park at another location for seven to eight days. All solid waste and recycling pickup dates will not change and crews will pick up at the usual locations.
