To recognize the significant contribution made by committed agricultural producers in the County of
Grande Prairie No. 1. To recognize and celebrate worthy farm families on an annual basis.
The County of Grande Prairie No. 1 strongly supports the agricultural sector of our municipality and
recognizes the significant contribution our farm families make in the community.
To show recognition on a local level, the County will undertake the following:
1.0
The Agricultural Fieldman will post a farm family ad in local newspapers and notify in writing
all Agricultural Societies within the County in late October of each year.
2.0
Nominations will be accepted up until December 1st of each year. Nominators may include
the public at large, or members of Council. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
3.0
The Agricultural Fieldman will present the qualified candidate applications to Council, and
Council shall select a worthy farm family to represent the County as the farm family recipient
for the coming year.
4.0
Council shall sponsor an award to the nominated farm family, and will provide a cheque for
$500 in lieu of expenses for any travel that may be required.
5.0
The Agriculture Department shall host the Farm Family Banquet each year at Evergreen Park
during the Peace Country Classic Agri-Show, inviting past farm families to celebrate the newly
awarded Farm Family.
6.0
Council shall send the division councilor of the farm family to present the award to the farm
family at the Peace Country Classic Agri-Show annual event.
7.0
At Northland’s discretion and upon the recommendation of the Agricultural Service Board,
Council is eligible to nominate a worthy Farm Family to represent the County at the
Northlands Farm Family Luncheon. This may or may not occur annually. The nominated
family will be recognized as the County of Grande Prairie No. 1 Farm Family at the Northlands
Farm Fair event.
