Current Newsletter - Central Baptist Church

From the Heart of Bro. Charles
As we move into the month of May, we do so inspired by the
great celebration of Easter. Christ Has Risen, and the
Resurrection of Jesus Christ changes everything!! As long as I
live I will never forget Easter Sunday 2017 at Central Baptist
Church. It was not only inspiring, but I am so motivated to tell
our community and county there is a Savior and His name is
Jesus Christ!!
That is why I am so excited to begin May with another bridging
event, “Friend Day.” Friend Day is a day we set aside twice each
year to place special emphasis on inviting our family, friends
and folks we know who are unchurched to attend Sunday
School and Church with us. One of the clearest things we have
learned as men in our Kingdom Men Ministry is that if you are
excited about a church even and you will invite people in your
life to come; they will come! It’s really that simple. I do the
possible and God does the impossible.
I write this as I am still recovering from jet lag. I am
so grateful to the LORD for the opportunity I had to
go to Ukraine with the Singing Men of North Central
Texas. I am humbled to have been a part of what God
did in and through us for His glory. I look forward to
sharing with you in the coming weeks what God did.
Hopefully, you have been working on your 4XFour Challenge
over the past year. The challenge is simple:
1)
IDENTIFY 4 unchurched people in the geographic area
2)
INTERCEDE for them in prayer to be open to the Holy
Spirit’s working in their lives
3)
INVEST in them by building a relationship that moves
beyond an acquaintance
4)
INVITE them to attend church with you and hopefully to
enter into a spiritual conversation.
Friend Day is a 4xFOUR bridging event that Central Baptist sets
aside to provide a welcoming environment for you to bring
guests for worship and fellowship following the service. We will
serve food, provide fun activities for children and youth, and
make time for everyone to fellowship together. Let’s make the
most of this wonderful opportunity.
WELCOME NEW STAFF
We begin May with two men now officially on board as Staff:
Kevin Johnson as our Minister of Education
& Administration
Paul Walker as our official Interim Youth Minister
I am so thankful for the staff our Blessed Lord is putting
together here at our church.
SENIOR RECOGNITION SUNDAY
On Sunday morning, May 21st, we will honor our graduating
High School Seniors. This is always a very special service. In the
afternoon at 2:00 p.m. we will host the Baccalaureate Service
for Crandall High School.
We sang nine concerts in eight different cities to an
estimated 11,000 people.
And our evangelist
presented the good news of the gospel of Jesus to a
people that have religion, but not necessarily a
relationship with Jesus Christ. A total of 6,511 people
positively responded to
Jesus Christ. To God be
the glory! Pray for the
local churches in Ukraine
that will now do the
important
work
of
following up with each person. Pray that each of
these will indeed become a sincere follower and
disciple of Jesus.
Thank you Central Baptist
Church for being a missionminded church. Thank you
for allowing me to take the
time to go, for greatly
helping to send me, and for
praying for me and the entire mission trip. And,
thank you for taking care of my family while I was
away. I love you all!
In Christ Alone,
Mike
HEY BUDDY
I cannot believe how blessed I am!! One week after
I was named as the Minister of Education and
Administration, Patti Mitchell, our pre-School
Director, invited me to visit the Pre-School
Department. During my visit, I got the privilege of
listening to Suzanne McLain’s (she is known as
Teacher Grandma in my house) and Sandra
Kimmons’ 4-year old class recite the 23rd Psalm. I
also visited Chris and Sue Buchannan’s 5 year olds
and listened to them tell the Resurrection Story.
What other job description allows a person to do
that kind of stuff? Thank you Central Baptist for
allowing me to serve in this position.
Many of you may be wondering, “What exactly are
we paying Johnson to do?” My basic job
description is to oversee the Sunday School
Organization and Bible Studies, manage the day to
day operations of the church, and I think that
really small print said anything else Bro. Charlie
wants me to do.
So now you may be thinking, “With all of the great
Sunday School teachers we have, that part of the
job shouldn’t be very hard.” You are right there,
but our classes are full and we need to start new
classes. Starting new classes will allow more
people to come and learn from the great new
teachers God places in each new class. We have to
start planning now for the future of Central
Baptist. I can’t wait to see what God is going to
do!
Thank you, again, for allowing me to be your
Minister of Ed/Ad.

Kaufman Children’s Shelter
News!!!
Our Children’s Shelter Ministry is in need
of several adults who are willing to commit
a few hours one Sunday each month (after
church until 2:00-2:30 pm). Help is needed
to transport our teens to and from the
shelter, as well as assisting with
supervision while there. We usually have
anywhere from 10-20 of Central’s youth
that give of their time. They do a great job
of providing and organizing activities for
the kids there.
This ministry is a blessing to the kids and
staff at the shelter. It is also a blessing for
all of us. Please prayerfully consider your
participation in this very worthy ministry.
Please contact Anita Bogan or the church
office if interested.
CENTRAL BAPTIST CHURCH STUDENT MINISTRY
Paul’s Epistle
Ken’s Pen
Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to Central
Baptist Church, I pray for grace and peace to you all.
The school year is coming to an end and we have
a full list of upcoming activities for this summer.
The month of May is a season of beauty. We are all familiar
with the statement of “April showers bring May flowers.”
Springtime is a season of beauty, but what is more beautiful
than seeing a fresh flower blossom and bloom is seeing a lost
soul come to Christ. There is happiness in the church and in
Heaven when a soul comes to acceptance that Jesus is Lord
over his/her life. Luke 15:10 tells us, “In the same way, I tell
you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God
over one sinner who repents.” Some of you might ask, what
does it really mean to be a Christian? What must I do to be
saved, or when can I be baptized? My response to that is
join us Wednesday nights in The Porch as we learn from
God’s Word what it really means to be buried with Christ and
risen to walk with Him through faith.
Starting on Wednesday, May 31st from 6:30-8:30
we will have Tribal Wars for kids who have
completed 4th-6th grades.
Our theme this
summer is The Fear Factor. Also on Wednesday
nights for kids who have completed 1st-3rd grades
we will have The Candy Connection. We are
looking forward to a great time on Wednesday
Nights this summer!
My thanks goes out to you all for your support in our
breakfast fundraiser. Please be on the lookout for upcoming
opportunities to further support our youth as they prepare
for their summer camp and mission trips.
I appreciate each and every one of you for the opportunity to
serve as Interim Youth Pastor. Please keep me in your
prayers as God leads our church to new heights that we
never thought possible. “Though I am the least deserving of
all God’s people, He graciously gave me the privilege of telling
the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in
Christ,” (Ephesians 3:8).
VBS is scheduled for Monday, July 17th thru
Thursday, July 20th. We will have a special
program on Thursday night presented by the kids
who have participated in VBS. We will have
more info coming soon for those of you who are
interested in helping with this amazing outreach
event!
Finally, Pre-Teen Camp News! We are super
excited to go back to “RiverBend” in Glenrose for
this year’s camp experience. The dates are:
Thursday, July 27th—Monday, July 31st. We will
send out registration packets soon, so mark your
calendars.
The summer is going to be packed with
opportunities for your children to have fun and
grow in knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and
the impact He can have on their lives.
My love be with you all,
Serving Together,
Paul
Ken
Bible Verse of the Month
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
100 Years
On October 21, 1917, a small group of Baptists met
together in conference at the Methodist Church in
Crandall, Texas, at three o’clock in the afternoon.
This meeting was for the purpose of considering and
organizing a New Testament Baptist church in the city
of Crandall.
A true church is an assembly of born-again, baptized
believers in Jesus Christ. The purpose of the church
is to fulfill the Great Commission of Matthew 28:1820. This fulfillment may only be accomplished
through making disciples and through training them
in the Word of God.
In just a few shorts months we will celebrate 100
years of God’s faithfulness over the last 100 years. We
need any old pictures, bulletins, programs or any
other memorabilia you might have for our displays.
Anything you would like to have returned, please be
sure to put your name on it. These items may be
turned into the church office.
