O&M Case Study – Sasonbi Solar
“A month after installing our Trinasmart
system we got an alert in our email notifying
us that there was a “Low PV string power.” I
went to the portal and I noticed immediately
one string was blackened and the voltages
were all zero for all the panels in that string.
Yet all the other panels were delivering
throughput within expectations. So we
reckoned right away that the problem was
with that specific string only. Early the
following morning, we inspected and found
out that the fuse for that string was broken.
We were able to fix it within a day of the
incident thanks to the Trinasmart monitoring.
The e-mail notification from Trina was such a
great help in knowing the situation almost
immediately.”
- Dante Briones, CEO Sasonbi Solar

Trinasmart Gets You More Watts From Every Bin
• Modules in the factory are binned to a
certain accuracy (generally +3%)
• An equal number of +3% modules will
be found in a bin as 0% modules, but
when strung together they all act like
0% modules
• With Trinasmart a +3% module will
not get dragged down by a 0% module
• A +3% bin will effectively give the
customer an additional 1.5% more
watts

25
Ground Coverage
• Trinasmart can increase ground
coverage ratio without
sacrificing energy yield
• Inter-row shading is mitigated
by panel-level MPPT
• In general modules can be
placed 4% closer without
compromising energy yield

Maximum Energy Harvest
Traditional System
• Module output is limited
by the lowest string
amperage
• One underperforming
module can bring down
an entire string
Mismatch drags down a string
Causes of mismatch
Shading
‐ Shaded modules drag
down others
Output variance
‐ In each power bin, a
+0W module will drag
down by a +5W module
• Allows each module to
operate independently
• The more mismatch in a
system the more extra
energy delivered relative
to a traditional array
Trinasmart corrects mismatch
Degradation variance
‐ Faster degrading
modules drag down
others as they age
Shade Affects 38 modules more than 50%
Shade Affects 9 modules more than 50%

Trinasmart Reduces Age-Induced Energy Loss
• Module degradation is not
uniform
• This creates module
mismatch that grows over
time: approximately 0.75%
increase in standard
deviation each year
• In year 5, this represents 12% additional losses, which
grow to ~4% in year 10 and
12% in year 20

Energy Harvest Case Study – Tucson Electric Power
Location: Tucson, Arizona
System 1: 105kW w/ Tigo
System 2: 108kW w/o Tigo
Trinasmart’s technology was retrofitted onto
a 12 year old system operated by Tucson
Electric Power. Over the course of a one
month trial comparing two systems next to
one another the Impedance Matching
Technology yielded 9.7% more energy per
kW as compared to the normal array.
“Having Tigo Energy optimizers installed
on half the array allowed us a unique
view into system performance and how
optimizers have been able to change the
performance of the array. The
difference in Performance of these sideby-side and nearly identical arrays was
striking.”

Safety Funtionality
Note: Trinasmart can deactivate modules for safety by:
1. Pressing the red button on the MMU
2. Turning off the AC breaker to a home (Trinasmart modules sense that
the inverter and MMU is down and automatically switch off)
3. Manually turning it off online on the Trinasmart software
