GENERAL INFORMATION
Coaches: Please refer to the UHSAA website and read about the “no show” fines. This rule is
in effect. If you have students who will not be participating at the State Meet their names must be dropped
by contacting the UHSAA office at (801)-566-0681 by 4:00 PM Friday, April 13, 2012. You may contact
me, Laren Swensen, by 6:00 PM, April 15, 2011 at Juab High School (435)-623-1764. ANY DROPS on
the day of the IE meet will result in a fine. We would encourage you to read carefully ALL RULES
PERTAINING TO DRAMA, so there will be no misunderstanding about material, eligibility, or
disqualification.
Talk to your students about proper behavior and respect for the facilities we will be using.
Please no food or drink in classrooms.
There will be a STATE DRAMA DANCE Friday, April 13 at Juab High School from 8:00 PM
until 10:30 PM. Cost is $4.00. Please have an adult from your school attend with your students. The dance
will be in the high school cafeteria. I will be upstairs in my classroom preparing for Saturday. Wander on
up and say “Hello.”
Each school must submit an Administrative Awareness form stating your administration is aware
of the appropriateness of material being used by students. This form must be a new one and not the same
one used for region.
Saturday, April 14, the JHS Booster Club will have the concessions stand open for refreshment of
students. We will also need your cooperation with keeping the building clean.
Medals will be awarded to students who receive straight superior ratings. We are asking each
school to provide one or two individual events judge for Saturday’s events.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you. If you have any questions or challenges, please contact
me, Laren Swensen at Juab High School (435)-623-1764. [email protected] (435)-6231772.
Important note: no judges will be allowed to participate without having passed the test. To pass, a
potential judge must receive 100 % on the test. Once a potential judge has past the test (they get two tries to
pass) they will need to print out their certification and bring it to the completion. They will have wait 24
hours before they can try again.

State Plays:
If your school has a play, please note the following information. You should plan on attending the
plays on Thursday and Friday. The order of the plays is the way it drew out. Your time is approximate. You
should plan for your play to take the stage as soon as the play ahead of you is off the stage. It is very
possible that plays could move ahead of schedule. Plan accordingly. Your maximum stage time will be
one hour to set-up, perform, strike, and participate in an oral judges critique. If you choose to use the
entire hour performing, it will be necessary to forfeit your oral critique.
A timer will be on hand to time each play. She will give you the GO when you may begin your
set-up. Your final time will be recorded on an official form.
Pertaining to the rule on royalty payments. You must submit your play paper work before
performing. If you are using the same royalty confirmation page you submitted at region, it MUST
SHOW AN ADDITIONAL PERFOMANCE PAYMENT FOR THE STATE MEET. Be aware of the
UHSAA “eligible student” rule. There will be students from Juab High School to assist your students
through your performance.
 Ask students performing and observing to remain only in areas designated for the plays
 Do not enter or exit the auditorium during a performance.
 Do not let groups gather near auditorium doors.
 Please leave dressing area and bathrooms clean when you have finished.
 Do one last check for items left behind.
