The Schüren Pedigree Chart. (The Family History

Descendants of Michael Schüren (1703-1777) and
Agatha Pasch (1698-1771). Some descendants lived
in New Jersey - no locations given on the chart. The
main author of this record is Henry Joseph Schuren,

The book in which the family tree is found is a history
of Ethiopia from the time of King Tewodros to that
of Emperor Haile Selassie. The objective of the family
tree is to establish the blood ties between Sahle
Sellassie (1813 – 1847), descendant of Menelik I, Son
of King Solomon, and Emperor Haile Selassie I,
(1892-1975). The family tree was made in 1944 by
the famous historian, Takla Sadeq Makuriya.

The book is an autobiography by the Emperor Haile
Selassie, the great grandson of Sahle Selassie. The
circular chart was made by Mahtama Selassie Walda
Masqal in 1971 and adds more family and offspring
to the smaller ‘blue curtain’ family tree (Row 3
centre) made by Takla Sadeq Makuriya. The original
script of the book was written in England. Haile
Selassie was in exile in Britain during the years of the
war between Ethiopia and Italy, 1936-41.

Heredity and environment contribute to who we are and
how we live – and reveal the significance of local and
family histories. What is our inheritance?
The IFLA Genealogy and Local History Section consists
of a growing community of librarians and historians
dedicated to the dissemination of international
genealogy and local history. The posters demonstrate
the nature of genealogy and local history and why these
disciplines are important in terms of libraries, archives
and museums.

Family Tree from the Juan Family in Taiwan.
The Family Tree is written in this huge volume and on
a large piece of white cloth of 3 x 120 Chinese feet. It
was composed by Mr. Lien-Chou Juan of the Juan
family from the Chung-Hwa County, Taiwan, using
the traditional brush pen. The 1st Generation quoted
commences in 1686 when the first ancestor, ChiaSheng Juan, moved to Taiwan from mainland China,
and it continues to the 12th generation in 1974.

the ancestors of James Grubbs Martin (b. 1935),
Governor of North Carolina. Family members lived in
North Carolina, Georgia, New York and elsewhere.

project dedicated to the Saints Day of Saint Sergius
and Saint Bacchus, (or slava Srdjevdan in Serbian –
also Sveti Srdj). The site tries to encourage an
interest and research in genealogy, family history,
culture and tradition, among people connected with
the celebration of these Patron Saints. Working on
the project is an informal community of individuals
who celebrate Srdjevdan as a Saints Day for their
family, and also many who have an interest in
genealogy, family history, ethnology, history, ethnogeography etc.
