New trainer on our books, Johnny Harris, was very well received at his first clinic on 1st March. The
members taking part were very impressed with his attention to detail & his dynamic style & his
second clinic on 15th March was fully booked with riders returning for another session with Johnny.
Julia Knight-Jones ran a fun, but instructive, training session for her Le Trec competition to be held in
May. Martins Farm at Chilbolton was a new venue & proved to be a good one. Julia had set up the
outdoor school, which has a surface which rides well, with various obstacles that could well be of
similar types encountered in the competition. These all looked to be quite straightforward but
proved otherwise!
COMING UP :
Members Only dressage day on Saturday 1st April at Sparsholt E C.
Full details of this, our first whole day event of the year, are on the website.
The Test Riding with Nadine Gregory is full, but there are spaces in Lizzie Murray’s clinic. Lizzie’s
clinic will follow a similar format to her sessions held regularly midweek with riders grouped in
threes or fours & of similar ability. Lizzie’s encouraging style & wealth of experience in the dressage
field brings out the best in horse & rider. You will be surprised what you can achieve & your horse
will be somewhat surprised too !!
In the afternoon we will be holding our own in house competition & there are classes from Intro to
Elementary. At the moment there are spaces in all classes but entries will be capped. This is a
relaxed competition with no need for plaits or your best show gear. You must, however, dress safely,
with correct tack as BD rules will apply. Entries will close on Tuesday 28th March & times will be on
the website on Thursday 30th March.
If you don’t want to enter the clinics or competition on Members Only Dressage day I am in great
need of some helpers. At this moment, I need two more dressage writers and two scorers. If you can
help, then please get in contact with me direct on 07754 709027 or email [email protected]
To round off – a few housekeeping notes :
If you do make your payments to clinics etc using BACS don’t forget to change the name of the clinic
& add the date of this e.g. D.T (for David Thomas) 3rd April(date of clinic ). This is necessary for
bookkeeping & auditing purposes.
Repeat from last month & I’m sorry that I am having to repeat this but Please make sure you arrive
at your clinic slot in good time to prepare yourself & your horse. Arriving late is stressful for both
horse & rider & disrespectful to the trainer & fellow riders.
Looking forward to seeing you all out & about at WRC
