Wendy’s main role is to support Duty Doctor on a daily basis
and thus improve accessibility to appointments as well as
offering “on the day” appointments for short term acute
illness. Wendy is also a specialist Respiratory Nurse.
A little about Wendy’s background: following foundation in
Hospital, Wendy worked as a District Nurse, before moving on
to become South West Nutritional Nurse Specialist for two
private companies, specialising in caring for terminally ill
patients. Returning to NHS and Primary Care, Wendy worked
for two years at Swindon Walk-In Centre, before moving into
GP surgery nursing.
Advancing clinical skills and clinical decision making, Wendy
completed modules at Masters level at London South Bank
University, as well as specialising in Respiratory illness. Wendy
holds a Non-Medical Prescribing qualification, which gives her
the authority to issue and sign her own prescriptions.
As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner operating in primary care,
Wendy has a wide range of skills, a broad knowledge base and
the ability to deliver specific aspects of care. Where
appropriate, these skills are supplemented by specialist health
care professionals in both primary and secondary care, and
include the use of a range of diagnostic and screening services.
We warmly welcome Wendy to the Northlands team.

Are you sitting comfortably?
At the suggestion of our Patient Participation Group, we have bought
risers for some of our chairs with arms. The risers have been
screwed on to the chair legs so that they are safe and secure.
Please use these chairs if the extra couple of inches helps you with
sitting and standing.

If you think you need travel vaccinations, please complete and return
our travel questionnaire form available from Reception (this is also

Ovarian cancer is a disease that can disrupt the normal function of the
ovaries. If it’s left unchecked, it can affect other parts of the body too.
Ovarian cancer occurs when abnormal cells within the ovary start to multiply,
creating a tumour. But it’s important to note that not all tumours are
cancerous. Non-cancerous tumours are called benign tumours. This means
they don’t usually spread to other parts of the body. They may need
treatment but they’re rarely life threatening. Malignant ovarian tumours are
cancerous and can be life threatening. It’s important to catch cancers early
because they can grow large enough to engulf most of the ovary and spread
to other parts of the body too.
