“Just Bake It” Fundraiser Each year a certain amount of fundraiser

 “Just Bake It” Fundraiser
Each year a certain amount of fundraiser profit is required to help in the costs of
year end trips, transportation overages, many school activities and awards for the
school year. As a supplement for our Fall fundraiser Miller School chose
Just Bake It as our spring fundraiser. Just Bake It is a company from Grenfell
that specializes in frozen products. The school profit for Just Bake It is $5.00
per item sold. Thank you Miller families (ahead of time) for everything you do to
help make the school year the best it can be! Kindergarten Fall 2017/2018
Miller School is now compiling their Kindergarten list for Fall 2017. If you have a
child born in 2012, live on the west side of Melville or are a rural resident, and are
planning on attending the Public system, Miller School is accepting registration.
If you know of anyone who has a child ready for Kindergarten in the Fall, please
pass this information to them as our Kindergarten Orientation in is May and we
would love for them to attend.
Please phone Miller School at your earliest convenience to pre-register for the
May Kindergarten Orientation and enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year.
Spring will be arriving soon!
With the Spring season here and the weather (hopefully) warming up,
water will be accumulating on the playground. Students should dress
for the warmth first and then for the wet. Please remember that
children need to have splash pants and rubber boots to play in the wet playground.
Parents may also want to send an extra pair of dry socks and pants just in case.
Student Led Conferences
Student Led Conferences (Parent/Teacher Interviews) will be held on Tuesday,
April 11 & Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in the evenings. Forms have been sent home
for your preference of days and times. The schedule will be prepared using this
information. All preferences will try to be accommodated but there is only so
many times slots available. If you cannot make your allotted time, please let the
office know and we can try to get you a different time.
Community Living Collection Fundraiser
Spring cleaning those closets? Have extra pairs of shoes laying around? Jackets
too small? Miller School is asking you to bring your bags of gently used clean
clothing, shoes, boots, jackets, linens and other wearables to school on
April 10, 11 or 12. On April 13, Community Living will be picking up the bags, they
will weigh the contents and Miller School will then be paid a monetary amount.
You may bring the bags anytime during school hours or during your Student
Led Conferences on the above days.
Miller Supply Lists
For the past few years Miller School has bought the majority of the
student school supplies and charged a one-time per year fee. This fee
also includes the student agenda. The school had 2 companies give us
quotes for the best prices to pass onto the parents but it turns out that
costs in general have gone up. We hope that by raising the school fee this fall by
a reasonable amount we can keep it as is for a few years to come.
Kindergarten school fee ($15.00) + agenda ($10.00) = $25.00
Grades 1 – 4 school fee ($25.00) + agenda ($10.00) = $35.00
We appreciate any feedback.
Parents & Guardians…The school is not responsible for supplying forks
and spoons for the students’ lunches/snacks. Please remember to send
eating utensils with your child’s lunch.
Telemiracle 41
Miller School students and staff fundraised for Telemiracle 41 by
having a Monster Cookie Sale, Dances, a Hat/Jersey Day and by
“walking” to Saskatoon. Our Miller School families and staff
generously raised an amazing total of$1078.75 which we presented to
Kinette member Nancy Krasowski at Reading Buddies. The Grade 2/ 3 classroom
collected the highest donation total for their Helping Hands “walking to
Saskatoon” and will receive an ice cream snack on a future afternoon.
Interesting facts:
- Miller School has participated in Telemiracle fundraising since 1990
- In the last 10 years Miller School has raised $6078.20 for Telemiracle
- 2016 was Miller School’s highest donation total of $1228.10
Miller Backpacks
A reminder that Miller School has backpacks available for sale. We
have 2 styles available: Redhawks (red) and Miller School “Great
Beginnings” (black) for a cost of $7.00. They would make a wonderful
gift, great for carrying lunches or gym clothes.
Earth Day
Earth Day is celebrated on Saturday, April 22. On Monday, April 24 Miller
students will go a school yard cleanup during the last period of the day.
Interdivision Learning Day
On Thursday, March 9, Miller Grades 3 and 4 students visited Grayson School to
participate in several fun and educational activities. North Valley Elementary also
attended. The students enjoyed several stations including a Literacy group,
Badminton, My Curious Brain, Medicine Wheel and making a Dreamcatcher. The
Grayson SCC supplied all students with a Taco in a Bag lunch. Many thanks to both
schools for this enjoyable day!
Author Visit
On May 5, 2017 Miller School will host author Trina Markusson. She will read her
book “Good Morning Sunshine!” which deals with anxiety at a child’s level but the
concept is for all ages. This is not a Kindergarten day but parents are welcome to
bring their Kindergarten children. Check May’s newsletter for the exact time of
her presentation.
