A
s a veteran in the pulpit, Matt Woodley has served as a
pastor for over twenty years, most recently at Church of the
Resurrection in Wheaton, Illinois and has spoken at national
pastors’ conferences. His role as a coach and mentor has
continued as Editor for PreachingToday.com, an online resource
for pastors’ inspiration and development in their preaching
ministry. Matt continues to dedicate his life to the local church
by providing high-quality resources for pastors and by serving
as the Pastor of Compassion Ministries at Church of the
Resurrection. In his pastoral role Matt serves as an advocate
for social transformation among the local poor, unborn,
trafficked, and displaced, leading the church to build meaningful
relationships with the “the Lord, the lost and the least.”

In addition to serving the Church through the ministry of
PreachingToday.com and Church of the Resurrection, he is also
author of God With Us: The Gospel of Matthew (IVP) and The
Folly of Prayer: Practicing the Presence and Absence of God

Prior to his role at PreachingToday.com, Matt spent most of his
life in Minnesota, where he pastored two churches (including a
church located in Barnum, Minnesota, population 460), before
pastoring the Three Village Church (TVC) in Long Island, New
York. TVC drew undergrad and grad students from around
the world—and provided very stimulating discussions during
the weekly “Grill Pastor Matt” post-worship lunches. After
pastoring for over 20 years, Matt moved to Chicago to work with
Christianity Today. In his free time, he enjoys being with his four
children and four grandchildren, hiking in nature preserves,
watching soccer, building friendships with refugees, and trying
as many ethnic foods as possible.
