He beguiles and bewitches, entrances and enthralls. Prospero is cruelly exiled on an island with his beautiful daughter Miranda, his impudent spirit Ariel and his savage slave Caliban. But Prospero has his books and magical powers. His opportunity for a reckoning with his usurpers arises: their ship strays within his waters and is wrecked on his island. The weary mariners stumble, uncomprehending, into Prospero’s virtual world. They become his playthings in a cyberspace of his invention; relentlessly watched and ruthlessly manipulated. It’s all great fun - the Windows Version version of The Tempest? T h e C o m p a ny Twenty seasoned Theatrix players make up our talented company. Prospero was last seen Not Waving But Drowning a Theatrix production. Caliban is fresh from a season with the National Youth Theatre. Ariel is making the transition from Cruella de Vil. This is the third Theatrix production for seven of the cast. In July and December, seventeen of the cast wrote and performed their own plays for the Theatrix Playwriting Examination. In August, nine of the cast took part in the Theatrix Summer Shakespeare Workshop. These are committed young actors.
