Hah! He’s nothing special! Go, daughter, this is no place for
you!
And you’re heading for a diet of old roots and sea-water!
(To Ariel) If all goes according to my plan, Miranda will marry,

Look! Here’s Ferdinand! He works like a slave.
That’s a strange way for a prince to behave…
MIRANDA
Please don’t work so hard. Let me help you.
FERDINAND
It is kind of you to offer, but I would never deceive your father.
MIRANDA
My father is busy with his books. He won’t know.
FERDINAND
All the same, I must do the work myself. But you could tell me
your name…
MIRANDA
I’m Miranda.
FERDINAND
Miranda!
MIRANDA
I wish you’d let me help you…
FERDINAND
But, Miranda, don’t you see – ‘m doing this for you!
MIRANDA

FERDINAND
I think your father is testing me.
MIRANDA
Why would he be testing you?
PROPSERO
I have seen everything I need to know. This young man is
honest. He will be good for Miranda.
Put down that wood, Ferdinand. You have passed my test.

from me!

I hate Prospero. Everything was all right till he came. He
makes me work night and day. If I disobey he tortures me with
screeching sprites, hissing snakes, jingling bells…
…just like that! Prospero must have heard me! I must hide…

Ferdinand may be alive, Sir…

No… He’s drowned! I know it…

I’m sure he made it safely to land.
KING ALONSO
He’s dead! I feel it in my bones…
SEBASTIAN
He receives comfort like cold porridge!
ALONSO
My poor son!

Yes. Their roaring must have woken you up.

Oh Ferdinand! If the sea hasn’t taken you, the lions will!
