Theme/Series of Lessons (if Not applicable, put N/A. If it is part of a series, of lessons, tell me, give a BRIEF description of the overall and tell me where this particular lesson fits): N/A Time (is this a 1 day 50 minute lesson, 5 day 1 hour lesson, once a week over a month lesson….): 1 day 55 minute lesson What do the students already know? (This could be the Intro or they have learned information before starting this lesson): This is an intro lesson on the basis of sentence structure. The students have not really reviewed sentence structure yet. Objective (What are the students’ going to accomplish): The student’s are going to learn how to write correct sentences and how to identify if a sentence is correct or not. Materials: cups, Popsicle sticks, markers, paper, pencils, computer, Inspiration Procedure: The students will review from an Inspiration web the key parts to a sentence. After understanding what all it takes to be a sentence, they will then draw a verb, noun, and adjective out of each set of cups. They will then create a proper sentence using their three words. Assessment (How will the students’ show you that the objective has been met): I will know that the students understand the concept of sentence structure by reviewing the sentences they write themselves. A Brief Description Of The Entire Lesson - Plus Any Additional Information to be Included: I will introduce the sentence structure lesson by going over all of the parts of a sentence on my Inspiration web. We will then discuss if a few sentences are correct or not together as a class and explain why or why not they are correct. The students will then draw a verb written on a Popsicle stick out of a cup labeled verb, a noun out of the noun cup, and an adjective out of the adjective cup. They will then go back to their seats and on a sheet of paper they will create a sentence using the proper structure and their three words they drew out of the cups. (I should be able to see and understand your entire lesson by reading this. Remember, Technology is not the lesson. It enhances the lesson)
