Long Term Care Planning/Own Your Future Minnesota:
Long-term care is the personal care and household help you need as you grow
older or have a chronic illness or disability. Medicare and health insurance do
not pay for most long-term care. This comes as a shock for many people who
did not plan in advance for this need. There is an organization that provides
education and planning tools for Minnesotan’s of all ages. Minnesota Own
Your Future helps Minnesota prepare for the dramatic increases in the
number of people who will be age 85 and older by the year 2030. You can
check out their website at: http://mn.gov/dhs/general-public/own-yourfuture/about-this-website.jsp If you are interested in their free planning guide,
stop by and see me or Megan at the front desk and we will get one for you.

Ebenezer Rocks!
This summer, Trails of Orono participated in
Ebenezer’s efforts to raise money for the
Alzheimer’s Association! Each Ebenezer
community contributed by painting a chair to
reflect the personality of their community. You
can go to www.ebenezerrocks.org and vote
for which chair you like the best and to learn a
bit more about the Ebenezer Rocks fundraiser!

Speaker Series
“America’s Favorite Pastime”
Join us on Tuesday, August 19th at 11:00
for our monthly Speaker Series by
Full Bloom!
“Baseball is one of America’s favorite pastimes,
and you don't need to be a baseball enthusiast
to enjoy this event! Let us introduce you to the
gloveless pioneers of the 1840s. We’ll catch-up on baseball history with
stories like this one; It was the afternoon of July 4, 1905, when 12,666
fans came to watch the Boston Puritans play the Philadelphia Quakers in
Boston. Neither pitcher gave a base on balls the entire game. After 3
hours and 31 minutes the Philadelphia Quakers, with a score of 4-2, won
the 20-inning game. We’ll slide into baseball’s fascinating firsts. What
rookie hit the first grand slam during a World Series? When was the first
curve ball thrown and by whom? This witty program is filled with
marvelous baseball memories, legends and lore.”
Japan surrendered on
August 14th, 1945, ending
WWII.

Come to “My best recipe” on Thursday, August

We will then showcase one recipe a month in the
newsletter and at dinner one night. This is sure to

Live Well Health Tip
According to Dr. Cynthia Green, “Try
doing things such as writing, eating
and brushing your teeth with your
opposite hand. Start with five minutes
a day, building to 30 minutes (total
over the course of the day) by the end
of the week.” This fun little trick gives
your coordination skills a real
workout! You can try it out at our
“Southpaw Social” on Wednesday,
August 13th at 3:00!
Riddle Me This…
You throw away the outside
and cook the inside. Then
you eat the outside and
throw away the inside.
What did you eat?
