Spirit n’ Motion Athletic School and the Spirit n’ Motion All Stars cheerleading program prides itself on
serving young people of all ages by providing a safe and positive environment for individuals to develop
themselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and morally through cheerleading, tumbling, stunting, and
dancing. Through our athleticism our goal is to teach respect, sportsmanship, self-esteem, self-discipline,
self confidence, and leadership skills.
Our All Star Program has been created to further the athletic skills of all those participating in it. It gives
them an opportunity to travel and compete before large audiences on a local, regional, and national level.
Goals include developing a maturity of skill level required for high school and collegiate cheerleading.
The cheerleaders will learn respect, sportsmanship, and how to be a team player.
ONE BIG FAMILY
In building the all-star program, the ages of participants will progress to include from 3 to 18 years
old, and includes kids from all over the Wood River Valley. The athletes will be broken down by ages on
appropriate teams, which will be decided based on the amount of participants at certain age levels and
skill levels required by competition rules. Teams will be broken as follows:
 Tiny Sparklers—Tiny Level 1 Squad: ages 3-5
 Green Emeralds—Mini Level 1 Squad: ages 6-8
 Silver Stars— Youth Level 2 Squad (must have back-handspring): ages 8-11
 Black Diamonds—Senior Level 3 Squad (must have a back-handspring): ages 10-18
***(If males are on the team, they will compete in a co-ed division when recognized by that particular
competition.) Levels of ability will be used to determine the best divisions for the teams.
DIVISIONS MAY DIFFER FROM ONE COMPETITION TO THE NEXT DEPENDING ON COMPETITION
REQUIREMENTS. The all-star program provides a healthy environment for these kids to learn the value
of teamwork, responsibility and commitment.
FUN, FUN, FUN
It is our goal to plan several other team activities or community services such as a Christmas
Caroling, get-togethers, community services, parades/fairs, and team parties, which will give the team a
chance to get to know each other and have fun outside of practice. If you have the privilege of becoming
an all-star be prepared for both lots of fun and lots of hard work.
COMPETITIVENESS
It is our goal, to have participants learn competitiveness in a healthy manner. We expect the
teams to be respectful and display good sportsmanship as well as remaining competitive. Team
members will be taught to always display respect for themselves, their teammates, their coaches, their
parents, as well as respect for our competitors. Regardless of what team or sport participants are
involved in; everyone is working very hard and deserves respect.
PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE
Today, cheerleading is viewed as a sport with a high degree of athleticism. There are more and
more top-notch colleges and universities giving scholarships to young men and women to cheer. With the
increasing competitiveness in the cheerleading world, the all-star program is an invaluable tool for
molding and preparing girls and boys for high school and collegiate cheerleading.
CHEERLEADERS ARE ATHLETES
Cheerleaders on competitive squads are physically fit, dynamic, and multi-talented athletes. They
possess excellent body control, fundamental gymnastic tumbling skills, the ability to dance, high
performance endurance levels, the ability to learn quickly with precision and accuracy, and are adept at
crowd control and motivation.
2
Competitive cheerleading squads are much more than just spirit support groups. Many high
schools throughout the state do not possess the skills or in some cases the desire to go on and compete
at the national level. This inhibits highly motivated cheerleaders the opportunity to be seen by many
collegiate coaches that use the all star venues as a valuable recruiting tool in order to assess skill and
award many collegiate scholarships.
Our program adheres to the rules and guidelines as set forth by USASF (United States All Star
Federation) as well as rules adopted by the various competition hosts that they attend. Our director and
coaches are safety certified and coaching certified.

up costs, SMAS Booster Club will set up team fundraising for travel and competition expenses.
ALL-STAR CHEERLEADING PROGRAMS AND GOALS
The all star program is a competition specific team geared toward performance at the advanced
level. The Goal is for four programs to be offered: Senior, Youth, Mini and Tiny. Any of the proceeding
may be co-ed. If we don’t have enough in a certain age group, we may combine squads.
3
Individual Program Expectations
Tiny Sparklers and Green Emeralds Squad The focus of this program will be to teach basic
skills of cheerleading including beginning tumbling, cheer, jumps, and dancing. They will be doing
coordination skills that build on the techniques that they will use in cheerleading and gymnastics when
they are older and more experienced. The focus of this program will be to teach these kids with
exceptional ability, how to be on a competitive cheerleading squad. They will learn the importance of
teamwork and sportsmanship as well as proper and safe cheerleading skills and progressions. While this
squad may compete in national competitions and winning is always fun, the success of the season, as
with all our squads will not be determined by whether we win at competition but rather, by the skill level at
which they are able to perform together as a team. Tumbling skills are certainly an advantage when
choreographing a routine but it is not as essential at the elementary (jr. preps) level as performing in
unison with sharp motions, entertaining dance and good solid stunts. We do hope that they will continue
to advance their tumbling skills as it will eventually be required at the next level.
Silver Stars Level 2 Team The youth program will require a certain level of tumbling skill and will
include this within the routine. The choreography will be advanced to elite level. They will be taught from
the basics, proper and safe stunt technique. They will be trained to become focused and disciplined to
perform as a team at an advanced level. The competition at this level is consistently strong. We feel that
the squad selected in our youth division will be a top competitor. This is an excellent training tool for high
school cheerleading and beyond.
Black Diamonds Level 3 Team This is the most advanced of all the all-star squads. Advanced
tumbling, jumps and motions skills are required. The choreography for these teams will be at the
collegiate level and the teams will be focused, disciplined, and dedicated. This will be a demandingly fun
program for the exceptional competitive athlete. Participating on this squad will improve and individuals’
ability as a high school cheerleader as well as build an excellent foundation for collegiate cheerleading.
PROPOSED COMPETITIONS FOR EACH SEASON
EACH SEASON, A PROPOSED TENTATIVE LIST OF COMPETITIONS WILL BE PROVIDED. Final
competitions will depend on performer readiness. Coach and Director will reserve the right to change the
competition schedule per the team’s best interest. Acknowledgement of competitions will be given as
soon as possible given the circumstances at hand. Every appearance, the teams will be expected to
represent Spirit n’ Motion All Stars in a positive manner.
SEE ATTACHED SHEET FOR COMPETITION SCHEDULE FOR 2014-2015
ALL-STAR GUIDELINES AND AGREEMENT
TUITION: 2014-2015 tuition is $50-$160/month payable to Spirit n’ Motion Athletic School (SMAS). This
includes all team practices inside the gymnastic centers and other facilities, training, coaching, and
tumble class. This is a membership fee that all team members are required to pay by the first of every
month.

 Dates for Camp are August 24-29th Please make sure your child is

and those that involve a contagious illness (a doctor’s note is required in this case).
4






If you are injured or sick (without a doctor’s note), attend practice so you may see any and all
changes that affect the team.
The 1st unexcused absence will result in the athlete being placed on contract. The 2 nd unexcused
absence will result in removal from the competitive team—practice only.
Tardiness will not be tolerated – please show respect for your Squad’s time!
In preparation for a competition, unscheduled practices will be called on a per need basis.
Unscheduled practices are only called when there is a need to do so and are mandatory.
This is a team sport and there is no bench or reserves to put in the routine. If you are missing
from a practice the whole squad suffers. As we get closer to competing we may have additional
practices to ensure the best possible performance.
A parent is required to notify a coach IN ADVANCE to get approval of any absences. If an
attendance problem arises, the participant will be placed on attendance probation and their
parent will be notified. If the problem persists, the member will be dismissed from the team. NO
MORE THAN TWO UNEXCUSED ABSENCES ARE ALLOWED BEFORE DISMISSAL FROM
TEAM BECOMES A CONSIDERATION.
If you cannot commit to the competitions or program please do not register. Coaches and directors
reserve the right to remove a member from a particular competition or from a team for missing
competition practices. Performer or team readiness will be evaluated in determining whether a team
member will compete after missing a competition practice.
Reasons for dismissal:
• Unexcused Absences (up to the discretion of the All Star Coaches).
• Unsportsmanlike attitude or conduct from cheerleader or cheer parent.
• The use of Alcohol or Drugs by at cheerleader at any time can result in immediate dismissal from the
squad.
Behavioral and Discipline Protocol: All behavioral and discipline will be discussed with the team
member on an individual basis. After having the opportunity to correct the matter, if further discussion is
needed, the member’s parent will be notified. Together, the coach, parent, and member will work to
resolve a problem. If a resolution cannot be made, the coach and director will decide on probation,
suspension, or removal of the member from the team.
Important Notice If for any reason your son or daughter does not fulfill the team obligation any monies
spent on your child’s behalf is non-refundable. (I.e. apparel, travel arrangements, competition fees etc.)
Any monies raised from fundraising events sponsored by SMAS will not be refundable.
Other Policies and Information
A. All team members must have a signed medical release form and have it on file with the Spirit n’
Motion Athletic School
B. A full tuition payment will be due on the first day of each month. Tuition is for training and gym
fees, and is due to remain a member of the team regardless of circumstances. There is a $10.00
th
late fee for tuition paid after the 10 of the month without prior financial hardship approval. If
tuition is not paid by the end of the month, member may be suspended until account is current.
Also credit card must be on file as well, for non-payment or auto pay.
C. Accounts must be kept current at all times. In the event a team member is removed or quits, any
and all credit on account will revert back to the organization. As this is a full year commitment,
there will be no refund payments or refund of the deposit or any other moneys paid. If a negative
balance is on your account at the time of dismissal, you will be responsible for the payment of
th
said balance. You will pay for the entire committed cheer year, from May 1, 2014-April 30 ,
2015, regardless of the status of the cheerleader, whether they are participating or not. This
includes cheer choreography camp/summer session/uniforms/registration fees/competition fees,

D. Please remember and be clear on this point: Your session tuition pays for training only. It does

addition, this fee covers their training and membership on the team. IT IS DUE WHETHER THEY
HAVE MISSED CLASS OR NOT.
If you and/or your child cannot work with the coaches and advisors of Spirit n’ motion All Stars,
then you do have a choice: to leave or to stay. Problems are usually misunderstandings and can
be worked out. As a parent, talking amongst yourselves or sideline coaching creates the wrong
information and atmosphere. It spreads bad morale through the gym. The lines of communication
are always open and schedule a meeting to voice your concerns. Coaches will listen. If a
problem occurs where bad moral and negativity is being spread at practice a meeting with the
parents and/or offenders will be called. Until an understanding can be reached, practice to the
offenders will become closed. Attempts will be made to come to an understanding, and the
parent will need to decide whether the program is for their participant or not. If the participant is
going to stay, the spreading of poor moral and negativity will be expected to stop. If it does not,
the director will assume the program is not right for the participant and remove them from the
team.
In order for Spirit n’ Motion All Star Cheer to remain a strong contender for titles, we continuously
recruit new athletes according to the needs of the program. Please note that no athlete has an
absolute spot on the floor. The coaching staff reserves the right, at any time, without notice, to
change team rosters by adding, rearranging, or replacing athletes to and from teams within the
program.
All rules for the gym must be followed. Some are listed below:
a) No one is allowed on any equipment without a coach. Everyone should enter and exit the
floor without going on equipment.
b) Parents, siblings, and spectators are not allowed on the carpeted area for insurance
purposes. Please drop off and pick up your kids, spectators are not allowed. Practices are
CLOSED for viewing. We will have performances for viewing purposes.
c) Street shoes are not allowed on the gymnastic matted floor. Cheerleading shoes that have
not been worn outside must be utilized.
d) All food or drinks are to be kept and consumed in the waiting area only.
e) ALL CHEERLEADER'S ACCOUNTS MUST BE KEPT CURRENT. ALL MONEY TURNED
IN WILL GO TOWARDS CHEERLEADER'S PAST DUE ACCOUNTS. In addition,
cheerleaders will not be allowed to order additional apparel or perform in additional
individuals or stunt groups if their account is not current.
Any event, situation, incident, or problem that may arise that is not specifically stated or covered
within this set of guidelines, will be acted upon at the discretion of director.
Statements will be provided once per month to include tuition due, travel or other fees due,
fundraising raised, and payments made within that month. Please check your statement for any
discrepancies. Discrepancy notification must be submitted in writing within 30 days otherwise
statement is accepted as valid and is due immediately. Please keep each monthly statement for
your records because the information will not be on the next statement. Also note that
fundraising may take approximately 2 weeks to show on your statement, therefore any
fundraising that does not make the cut off will be deducted from the following month’s statement.
A credit/debit card must be kept on file, starting day one. Please fill out the attached Credit Card
th
Authorization form. This will be used if payment is not made by the 10 of the month for Tuition
and Booster Expenses.
Fundraising and Booster Club
Spirit, Spirit, Spirit
SMAS has a Booster Club President/Assistant to SMAS. They will assist in heading up all
committees and organize them. All fundraising must be pre-approved through the Booster President and
SMAS director. No individual fundraising may take place without either passing through committee or
being approved by the director who will notify the committee in the event of time constraints.
In the event a member does not fulfill their obligations to the team, any fundraising credit will be
placed in the general team fundraising account. In addition, for legal purposes-any uniform and
accessories paid for by fundraising (due to hardship) must remain property of Spirit n’ Motion All Star
Cheer.
6
Organizational fundraising will be incorporated by the booster club to defer the team’s travel
expenses, competition expenses, and other expenses incurred. Ideally it would be fabulous to create
opportunities for these kids to raise all the money that they need for start up costs as well as competition.
Profit will be split amongst those who participated.
We will have a Parent Booster Club, where one parent of each member must attend meetings
and be active. We will meet often to discuss various activities. We need to have an elected Team Parent
that will chair the club with the following committees: Fundraising, Local Events Coordinator, Bonding
Activities, and public relations/advertising/news reports, a secretary, and a Spirit Committee. The
purpose of the parent group/booster committee is to be a positive support group for the team. The
success of your child's team will greatly be affected by the support offered from the parent group. We ask
that all parents involved in the parent group brainstorm on fundraising, spirit, and support functions for the
team and keep the parent meetings on a positive basis only. Too many times in youth sports/activities,
parent groups turn out to be gripe sessions, which does not help anyone. Any gripes should be
discussed only with the coaches and director. Please step forward to make sure that the parents group is
a helpful, positive adventure and support group for the team.
Travel rules
1. All Competitions are MANDATORY. If you choose not to attend, then you may be removed from
the team, or unable to compete for the duration of the season.
2. Each member will be in charge of their own child, and be responsible for getting them to events,
performances, and competitions on time. They will also be responsible for them during
competitions and until they return home.
3. We may be able to get group rates at certain hotels. There will be times when we all stay
together. Please respect this decision as it is very important for team bonding. We have
Mandatory Hotel Stay—together--for Nationals Events.
4. The head coach or director will notify everyone on all agenda for the entire trip. Please be on
time. All team members are required to attend all team functions.
5. Members are expected to be at any scheduled practices or meetings on time AND IN PROPER
APPAREL.
6. It is mandatory for all members to follow all travel arrangements made by the head coach or
director.
7. At competitions, all members and parents will sit together in their assigned area for the entirety of
the competition. They will not be allowed to roam the arena or school to the spectator side until
they are done competing, then they may join their parents to watch the rest of the competition.
The Mini, Junior, and Senior Squad members will only leave the seats accompanied by a coach
or someone assigned by the coach. This includes bathroom and concession trips. Juniors and
Seniors will use either this method or a buddy system setup by the coach. Parents and fans must
sit in the assigned spectator area together.
Thank you for your interest in our program. Aside from all these details, we work hard, learn many new
skills, and have a lot of fun in the meantime. We are excited to have you as part of our team! We look
forward to a great year!

Spirit n’ Motion All Stars Rules and Policies
Absence Rule
Any All Stars who miss 2 or more practices prior to a competition may have to sit out that competition.
This does not apply to summer practices before September 1. ALL Choreography Camps and Competitions
are MANDATORY. No exceptions! If you miss one, you may practice with the team as an alternate, but
you may not be able to compete for the rest of the season. You only get 2 unexcused absences during the
season to compete. If you have more than that, you will just practice with the team.
Tumbling Classes—Mandatory for Black Diamonds Optional for Silver Stars
We offer extra tumbling classes and private classes, for those who seek more gym time and one on one
attention toward their tumbling skills, which will lead to faster progression through levels. This is to
ensure that you are making appropriate progress. These classes are offered and manatory for Black
Diamonds and optional for Silver Stars.
All Stars Tardy Policy
All Stars more than 8 minutes late to a TUMBLING class will not be allowed to participate in that
tumbling class. This is to ensure that they are properly stretched. They will do conditioning the entire
class. This includes being there, but not being ready to start on time.
Valuables
Valuable items should not be brought to the gym. SMAS will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.
Please NO jewelry—especially dangly earrings to class. Also, no cell phone use is allowed during class,
without permission from a coach (to call a parent, etc.).
Practice Attire
Once practice attire is distributed to All Stars, it is to be worn to every practice. If you lose the practice
attire, you will be responsible for payment for new workout gear. Anyone without practice gear will not
be allowed to practice. They will do conditioning for the entire practice. This includes having cheer shoes
at every practice and hair pulled back out of the face and off the shoulders. Please make sure to pack
healthy snacks and a water bottle to each practice as well.
Cell Phones
9
Cell phones for students are not allowed at practice, unless a being used with a coach’s permission to
contact a parent, take a video/picture, or for music. Phones will be kept with a coach if the privileges are
being abused.
Attitude Policy
If you come to practice or a competition with a bad attitude, and are whining and complaining, we will
give one warning and extra conditioning. If things don’t change we will simply ask you to leave, and you
will automatically receive an unexcused absence. It is extremely important to be positive and to have a
good attitude, as it brings up morale and spirit to everyone. This includes your attitude outside of
cheerleading at school, with your teammates. This also includes attitude and support from the parent(s).
If there is a problem, please discuss it one on one with Amanda.
I have read, discussed these rules with my child, and agree to abide by the above rules and policies.

1. We have read the entire Spirit n’ Motion All Stars Welcome Packet and agree to all its terms and
conditions.
2. We realize that being selected to represent Spirit n’ Motion All Star Cheer is a privilege and can be
