While the brutal persecution of Falun Gong
is going on in mainland China, the practice
is quickly spreading in Taiwan. In just two
years, the number of practitioners grew from
5,000 to 100,000. People in Taiwan warmly
welcome this genuine practice. Why is Falun
Gong being treated so differently in these
two places that share the same Chinese tradition and culture? In Taiwan, people enjoy
their right to freedom of belief, freedom of
association, and freedom of speech, but in
China, people are deprived of these basic
human rights.
