WearereallyproudofourcrosscountryrunningteamwhowonthecompetitionagainsttheNorthern
schoolsandwentontorepresenttheareasandcompeteintheDRETinter-schoolcrosscountry

competition,heldinthegroundsofNevilleHoltHallinLeicestershire.Thechildrenfinished3 outof22
schools,animpressiveachievementandmatchingoureffortsatlastyear’sevent.Thechildrenshowed
greatdeterminationandteamworkthroughout.Weareextremelyproudoftheirefforts!
PrimaryCup:
WelldonetoallpupilswhotookpartinintheDRETPrimaryCupwherechildrentookpartinnetballand
footballgamesagainsttheNorthernDRETschools.Thechildrenperformedbrilliantlythroughouttheday
earninganumberofmedalsandtrophies,includingwinningthefootballandnetballandbecomingthe
overallPrimaryCupChampions–afabulousresult.Wearesoproudofallofthechildrenwhotookpart!
RockChallenge
OurRockChallengeteamhavebeenworkingveryhardpractisingtheirsetwhichtheywillperformon

Friday7 AprilattheHullIceArenaaspartoftheRockChallengecompetition.Thechildrenandstaffhave
workedandrehearsedtirelesslyoverthelastfewweeks.Weareveryproudoftheireffortsandknowthat
theywillputonanamazingperformance.
WorldBookDay
Itwaswonderfultoseethechildrendressedupascharactersformbooksandsharingtheirfavouritebooks
witheachotheronWorldBookDay.Assemblieswereheldwherechildrenshowedtheircostumesandread
extractsfromtheirchosenbooks.Itwasinterestingtohearwhichauthorsarepopularwiththechildren.
TheserangedfromJuliaDonaldson,RoaldDahlandDavidWalliamstoJaneAusten!
RomanDay
Y3hadaveryexcitingdayaspartoftheirRomantopic.ThechildrenandstaffdressedupinRomancostumes
andreallylookedthepart!ManyofthechildrenmadeaRomanstyleclaypotwithaspecialvisitorwhocame
infromalocalpottery.Sheexplainedtothechildrenthewholepotmakingprocessfromobtainingtheclay
tofiringthepotinthekiln.ChildrenthenhadtheopportunitytolearnaboutRomannumeralsandrecreated
someusinglollipopsticks.Theyhadamathslessonwithacatch-allthenumberswereRomannumerals!
They also had the opportunity to learn about the Roman myth of Romulus and Remus and create a
storyboardtoretellthestory.Finally,childrenwereabletodesignandcolourtheirownmosaics.Everyone
hadagreatdayandweareeagerlyawaitingthepotstobereturnedfromthepottery!
