Year 6 - To investigate spelling patterns in pluralisation including
irregular plurals.






Most words just add ‘s’.
Words ending with a consonant +y change the ‘y’ to ‘ies’.
Words ending with a vowel +y just add ‘s’.
Words ending with an ‘f’ or ‘fe’ changes to ‘ves’.
Words ending with ‘ch’, ‘sh, ‘ss’ or ‘x’ add ‘es’.
Some words have a new word in their plural form – these are
called irregular plurals
