O. REG. 332/12 AS AMENDED
CHANGE NUMBER:
B-07-06-07
SOURCE:
Ontario-NPC
CODE REFERENCE:
Div. B / Table 7.6.3.4.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT
The proposed change affects the velocity design allowances within Table 7.6.3.4. to reflect materials which are
permitted to be used, and that the maximum permitted water velocities should be those recommended by the pipe
and fitting manufacturer.

RATIONALE FOR CHANGE
Problem/General Background
The proponent states that numerous manufacturers of non-metallic water pipe allow velocities of greater than 2.4
m/s. The reference Table should reflect materials that are permitted to be used.
Justification/Explanation
The proponent states that the change will minimize the need for municipal water services to be upsized. It will
allow designers with greater flexibility in this area and those recommended by the pipe and fitting manufacturer.
Cost/Benefit Implications
None anticipated.
Enforcement Implications
None anticipated.
Who is Affected
Owners, designers, contractors and building officials.
