CNC Noncontact vs. Contact Forces

CNC Noncontact vs. Contact Forces
Due date October 21, 2016
You will be writing a compare and contrast paper on noncontact and contact forces.
 There must be an introductory paragraph that summarizes how the two categories of forces are similar and different as well
as discusses your findings during the exploration of each type of force.
 Within the introduction, you must provide a definition in your own words for both contact and noncontact forces. Internet
definitions or definitions provided by a book will not be accepted.
The body of the paper must begin by comparing and contrasting the two force categories discussing three similarities and three
differences as well as supporting evidence found only within the completed labs in science class. I will not except any evidence
gathered from other sources.
 The supporting evidence will discuss data gathered during labs as well as how the data supports your comparison of
difference and similarities between the two main force categories.
 You must tell me the lab the data was gathered in as well as discuss how it applies to your evidence.
Within each force category you will also be comparing and contrasting each of the three main force types.
 For contact forces, you will be comparing and contrasting as well as defining friction, normal, and applied forces.
o When comparing and contrasting the three contact forces you must give three similarities and three differences for
each of the force types as well as supporting evidence found only within the completed labs in science class. I will
not except any evidence gathered from other sources.
 It might be helpful to research creating a tertiary Venn diagram to help write this part of the paper.
 The supporting evidence will discuss data gathered during labs as well as how that data supports your
comparison of differences and similarities between each force.
 You must tell me the lab the data was gathered in as well as discuss how it applies to your evidence.
 For noncontact forces, you will be comparing and contrasting as well as defining gravity, magnetism, and electrical forces.
o When comparing and contrasting the three noncontact forces you must give three similarities and three differences
for each of the force types as well as supporting evidence found only within the completed labs in science class. I
will not except any evidence gathered from other sources.
 Again, it might be helpful to research creating a tertiary Venn diagram to help write this part of the paper.
 The supporting evidence will discuss data gathered during labs as well as how that data supports your
comparison of differences and similarities between each force.
 You must tell me the lab the data was gathered in as well as discuss how it applies to your evidence.
The conclusion will summarize the paper reviewing each of the main categories of forces.
 your conclusion should analyze how forces affect your everyday life providing at least three examples of how noncontact and
contact forces can impact your life.
 In addition, you should review how the content standards apply to everyday life.
o The content standards state that “Forces have magnitude and direction” and that “Forces between objects act
when they are in direct contact or when not touching.”
The following details need to be included and considered in the write-up:
 No late assignments will be accepted. For those choosing to not submit a full assignment, you will be required to serve after
school detentions until the assignment is completed. You will not be given credit for this late work.
 Since the assignment is a digital assignment, absences are not an excuse for extended time. The paper is due on Friday,
October 21 by 4:00 PM. No changes will be accepted after that time.
 Please keep in mind that additional homework assignments will also be given. Please plan accordingly.
 The paper must follow all MLA formats. Details on requirements can be found at
https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/
 The paper should be 8-12 pages.
 The paper must be typed in 12 font Arial.
 The paper must be double spaced.
 The paper must include proper transitions between paragraphs as well as no grammatical mistakes. Listing of information
will not be considered towards credit.
 The paper must be shared with me in Google Docs. The sooner you share the document the sooner I can provide rough
draft feedback. Please do not send me any other file format (word, pages, pdf, etc.).
 There is no plan to spend any time in class on this assignment but if time is provided you should plan to have your materials
with you each day in class.
