The Percheron originated when Charles Martel, King of Old France overcame the Muslim army
between Tours and Poitiers in central France. It is speculated that among the horses used by the
French for horse breeding were a number of Arabian Desert horses. The French captured these
horses after turning back the invasion by the Muslim and other nations from the East. It is widely

to work and please. The Percheron should stand at least 16hh and must give the impression of
weight and strength. The Percheron should weigh between 800kg and 1000 kg. If a Percheron is
used correctly, it is easy to handle, a willing worker and a pleasure for the eye.

His largest pumpkin
weighed in at 50kg. The participants are
exposed to the same challenges that
farmers experience, who must ensure
there is enough food. All the pumpkins
entered in the competition are donated to
organizations who help people in need.
The day was filled with fun activities
such as “pitspoeg”, weight guessing and
Christmas Father and his Giant carrying of pumpkins.

Maintenance of the RVW infrastructure is an ongoing and never ending
process.
Tshwane only provides water, storm water and road maintenance support for
the public infrastructure. We have to pick up litter and cut the grass on the
sidewalks ourselves, otherwise it will be done only once a year. The RVOA,
on Tuesdays, pick up 6-8 bags mid month and around 10bags of litter after
the end of the month when everybody has had money to buy Kentucky.
Imagine leaving this rubbish to accumulate for a whole year.
Our security infrastructure such as the fences, gates, light gates and booms
are maintained by donations and contributions.
Buffa street gate opens and closes between 800 and 1000 times per day and
the 2 booms in Sinovich roughly 1500 times each day. This heavy usage puts
a tremendous strain on the equipment. Our electricity usage is around R700
per month. We have 6,8km of electric fence paid for by donations from the
residents in RVW.. The fences are damaged regularly either by criminal
elements or lazy people wanting to take short cuts. We have to cut fire breaks
either sides of fence and clean them 3 times a year. Each cleanup takes about
120 hours.
Thank-you to all the RVOA members for your levy contributions, it assists us
in making RVW a better place for all the residents!

AT NOTIZ FIRE WE OFFER SECURITY SERVICES
SECURITY STARTS WITH YOU!!
I have been asked to write a short article on home
security and shed some light on some things we
may take for granted namely those close to us and
living with us and among us.
Living with a false sense of security can be very
detrimental to you and your loved ones. This may
sound harsh but trust no one. Those closest to
you are the ones that know the most about your
daily routines and your day to day comings and
goings.
Your secret hiding places are discovered, either by
accident or by you requesting something to be,
hurriedly fetched in the safe hidden in the spare
room or under the stairs or wherever.
In that moment of absent-mindedness your
treasures are viewed and those you trusted the
most betray you either purposefully for some extra
cash or unknowingly whilst casually chatting to
their friends.
Now I am not saying don’t trust anyone, quite the
opposite, trust is something that must be earned
and not given in a moment of languor. Take the
extra minute to think about what will be seen
when, for example, that person is tasked to get the
babies blanket out the cupboard next to the
portable safe for example.
Remember what has been seen cannot be unseen
and usually what is seen is spoken about and
there are ears listening for that exact information.
Until next time Victor Sierra over and out.
Another exciting service is
SMS communicators. We
can convert your existing
remote control system to
your
cell
phone
by
installing
a
SMS
communicator
and
thereby do away with the
need to carry numerous
remotes. For example you
will be able to open your
gate if motorised, or any other nominated output from
anywhere in the world as long
have cell reception and can make a call or send a SMS.
You can restrict access to your property during certain
times thus allowing your domestics access during certain
hours and blocking them at other hours. You could switch
lights on (this will require an electrician to rewire the
lights) when and from wherever you are. For example as
you come driving up to your house you send one SMS or
call the unit and the house lights switch on, at the same
time the gate opens and the alarm switches off. The unit
also has the ability to SMS you back that the gate is open
and that the alarm is now off.
If your security system has been compromised
(INTRUDER ALARM) you will also receive a SMS telling
you that your alarm has been activated. Monitor Net will
call you to tell you this but this can act as backup. In my
experience I get the SMS before Monitor Net has called.
