You will need:
BUNTING
1
First make your triangle template for your
pennants from thin card. 20cm x 30 cm
works well.
3
Place 2 pennants together with the right side
of the fabric facing each other. Pin together
along the sides and the centre. Sew along
sides only with a 1cm seam. Do not sew the
top edge.
4 metres x 2cm wide bias binding or ribbon
Cotton and felt fabric
Scissors, ruler, pencil, chalk
Thin card
Sewing machine and pins
Sequins
Iron
2
Draw with coloured chalk around your
template onto the reverse of your fabric. For
each pennant cut 2 triangles.
4
Remove pins. Cut away excess fabric at the
point. Turn fabric right side out and push the
point out gently with a pencil.
BUNTING
5
Slip your card template back in. Stretch out
your fabric and iron flat.
7
Decorate with felt letter and sequins. Fold
ribbon down the centre of its length and iron
in a crease if you don’t have bias binding to
prepare for sewing.
TIP!
The best

is vintage ting

6
Remove template and trim the pennant
straight at the top.
8
Slip the top of the pennants between bias
binding (or ribbon) and pin together leaving
about 20cms between pennants. Remember
when pinning to leave 50cms before pining
first pennant, this will leave enough room for
a hanging loop to be sewn.Machine sew with
matching thread. Press, hang and enjoy!
BOWLER HAT
1
Turn your T shirt inside out so not to show
any print. Lay the T shirt flat and put it on
your head.
3
Lay a towel down to make a non-slip
tabletop. Then put a head sized mixing bowl
face down. Place your T shirt on top on the
bowl.
You will need:
Old black adult T shirt
Masking tape, ribbon, black card and stapler
Black wool and darning needle
Bowl and a towel
2
You will need a partner to do this for you!
Wrap masking tape around the head 3 times
above the ears. Press the tape down firmly and
carefully remove the T shirt from your head.
4
Roll your T shirt inwards toward the masking
tape. Fold in the sleeves too.
BOWLER HAT
5
Twist the fabric and roll in a clockwise
fashion tucking in any extra fabric. Make sure
your roll covers all of the masking tape.
7
For a stronger hat!
Cut strips of 5cm wide thin black card. Wrap
the card round, over and across your head to
get your size. Staple into place and then sew
inside your hat.

6
Thread your needle with wool and tie a knot
in the end. Insert the needle from inside your
hat. Pull through, loop round the rolls and back
through to the inside. Repeat all the way round
the rim of the hat.
8
Decorate your hat with a wide ribbon and a
miniature flag.
You will need:
FLAG
1
Measure your Bamboo to length (60cm). Saw
off the end and sand any rough edges. Paint
your stick black with acrylic paint.
3
Printing a flag. Mix up your acrylic paint colours
and pour into trays. Dip your plunger into the
paint and press onto scrap fabric for a test
run first. Wash and dry the plunger thoroughly
before printing each new colour. Remember to
let each colour dry first before printing again.
Acrylic paint is waterproof and doesn’t need
ironing to fix.
Canvas fabric, Needle and thread
Sewing machine and pins
Bamboo stick, acrylic paint and paper
Sink plunger, roller and tray
Saw and sandpaper
2
Cut your canvas fabric to 40 x 60cm. Iron
and press in your seams for easy sewing.
Machine sew your edges.
4
Make a stencil. To stencil print you need
to pick a simple shape. Draw your shape
on A4 paper. Fold your paper in half down
the centre to allow your scissors in. Cut out
your shape. Remember where you cut out
is where you will print. Lay your paper open
and flatten out.

SASH
1
Silky fabric
Gold thin card
Embroidery thread and darning needle
Ruler
Sewing machine
2
Fold the fabric in half lengthwise with the
inside facing out. Iron, then trim both ends of
the sash at a 45 degree angle.
Decide on the width of your sash, 15cm is a
good size. Times this by 2. Cut 2 metres of
fabric at this width.
3
With the fabric still inside out, stitch around the
raw edges leaving a 5cm gap unsewn. Turn
right side out through the unsewn gap and iron,
making sure the edges are turned inwards.
4
Hand stitch with embroidery thread all the
way round the sash.
SASH
5
