ROBYN CHOSE A GOLD YARIS
Congratulations Robyn Evans from
Southport was the lucky winner of the
94.1FM Grand Motors Toyota Yaris.
Robyn couldn’t believe it when we
placed a call to her from our Outside
Broadcast at Grand Motors. Our
Breakfast Announcer Gary Boughen
and Robyn had a bit of a banter about
the colour, with Robyn at the time
preferring red and Gary trying hard to
give her a green Yaris. In the end
Robyn’s choice was Gold.
The OB promotions were designed to
also promote the station to a wider
audience.
This year’s Radiothon was a huge
success with the promotion involving
OB’s (Outside Broadcast’s) from many
Gold Coast Shopping Centres and
business outlets.
94.1FM Chairperson Eric Muir has
congratulated and thanked all involved
in the effort as a strong Radiothon
ensures the growth and continuance of
the station.
The OB’s also gave our listeners a
chance to come and meet the team and
double their entries in the Yaris.
Many people are involved in making a
successful Radiothon including
sponsors, prize donors, staff,
volunteers and our listeners who
become or re-join our Support Group.
Have you “Liked” our Facebook

DOUG HARVEY – ONE OF OUR
WEEKEND ANNOUNCERS - IS A
MAN OF MANY TALENTS
We ran a fun competition this year,
which was entered, by a record
number of people from all over the
Coast. Listeners were encouraged to
seek out our 94.1FM Grand Motors
Toyota RAV take a pic and send it to
the station. It didn’t matter where
you saw the car the idea was to
capture and create a pic that was
different and unusual.
Doug Harvey commenced his broadcasting career in 1972 in Auckland after
working part time in radio during university holidays. He’s spent the
following 25 years as an Announcer, Program Director, Station Manager and
Station CEO, coupled with a successful Television career.
In the end it was a Captains Pic, and
Gary our CEO said the most original
entry went to Andrew Faircloth,
owner of The Urban Monkey Coffee
Shop in Bundall.
At 94.1FM you’ll hear Doug between 5 -9am Saturdays and on the extremely
popular Sunday morning shift which includes 9am 60’s, 10am 70’s and at
11am Doug feature an 80’s year to highlight with music and events from his
chosen year.
Andrew won a wonderful night for 2
including breakfast at The Surfers
Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa.
In 1997 Doug moved to Australia working with Southern Cross Media in TV
and Radio. He now operates his own TV Production Company.
Doug has appeared in over 20 local Gold Coast theatre productions. His other
passions include music, wine, good food and the awesome Gold Coast.

DEBBI PARKER
THE WONDER WOMAN OF 94.1FM
Debbi Parker has been with 94.1FM
since day. She has over the past few
years been involved in the day to day
running of the station handling a
variety of tasks, but just recently has
taken over the role of Radiothon Coordinator. This the third year Deb has
been involved and the first year to be
totally in charge.
Work on Radiothon starts 3 months
before it starts on air. And this year
because we had such a great prize of
the Toyota Yaris, we ran the fund
raising event over 5 months instead of
the normal 7 days.
The job involves getting prizes,
organising staff, volunteers and
making sure all new and renewing
members’ details are correctly entered
into the computer. It’s also Deb’s role
to co-ordinate all prizes and make sure
the correct prizes are given to the
many winners.
On the day of the Yaris draw
there was a rush of signups and
everything had to be in place
before the draw could start. So it
is not a job for everyone and she
handled it with ease.
Deb is very proud to be the one who
introduced ‘Barley’s Angels’ a beer
appreciation class for women in
Queensland, this was before the Craft
Beer revolution here on the Gold
Coast
Deb is a born and bred Gold
Coaster.
All that experience has culminated in
Deb being able to manage the office,
our Facebook page and social media
and selling sponsorships. She has also
been known to go on air – but says it’s
not her thing. And on top of all that
now totally looks after the Support
Group Membership too.
So it’s no surprise her first job
was with ‘Tropicarnival’, being
mentored by experts in the
entertainment industry by Paul
Sharratt & Judy Ferber.
Working in this industry meant
She’s the woman behind the man
Deb was given amazing

opportunities and experience in
entertainment, television with
Starcast Productions & Channel
9 Brisbane, and access to the
‘goings on’ in the iconic 4GG studios
during the ‘80’s.
