Executive Summary

Solar glare has been assessed from 7 positions around the site on the railway
line and the surrounding roads. Whilst 3 instances of solar glare are visible
they are minor and either last only brielfy or occur outside 30 degrees from the
foveal and so would be of little significance.
We therefore conlude that the proposed development is acceptable in terms
of solar glare.

Introduction and Objective
GIA has been instructed to provide a report upon the potential impact of Reflected Solar Glare which may be caused by the proposed scheme prepared
by John McAslan and Partners & Paul Davis and Partners. The assessment will
consider the possible impact upon sensitive transport arteries surrounding
and facing the proposal. These may include: signalled road intersections, pedestrian crossings, non signalled road junctions and railway signals.
GIA was specifically instructed to carry out the following:
• To create a 3D computer model of the proposal based upon drawings prepared by John McAslan and Partners & Paul Davis and Partners.
• Carry out a solar glare assessment using the methodologies set out in section 4 of this report.
• Prepare a report setting out the analysis and our findings and recommendations.
