August 8th is National
Zucchini Day and Sneak
Some Zucchini onto
Your neighbors’ Porch
Night. This is the gardener’s worse nightmare
unless you only plant a
half of seed. No joking, zucchini grows fast,
but there are a zillion
new recipes out there
and some of them quite
delicious, I might add.
August 10th is National
S’mores Day. Join us in
the activity room for a
S’more at 3:00 PM.
YUM!
Did you know there is
an annual National Hobo Convention? It is
held in Britt, Iowa. This
is the 116th year. I remember having hobos
stop by our house for
something to eat. I imagine most of you remember hobos. Now
they are probably
considered “the homeless”.
Don’t forget the ‘barn
burn’ on Saturday at
7:00 AM. We have a lot
of pictures of the tear
down of the barn and
silo and we’ll get some
of the fire. We hope to
combine them into a
DVD and have a viewing for all.

Sound Familiar…….
An 80 year old couple was having problems remembering things, so they decided to go to
their doctor to get checked out to make sure nothing was wrong with them. When they
arrived, they explained to the doctor about the problems they were having with their
memory. After checking the couple out, the doctor told them they were physically okay
but might want to start writing things down and making notes to help them remember
things. Later that night, while watching TV, the old man got up from his chair. Where are
you going? His wife asked. I’m going to the kitchen . Will you get me a bowl of icecream? Sure he replied. Do you think you should write it down, so you can remember it?
She asked. No, I can remember that, he replied. I’d like some strawberries on top, she
said. You better write that down because I know you’ll forget that. I can remember that.
You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries. I’d also like whipped topping on top, she
said. I know you’ll forget that, so you better write that down. I can remember that, he replied. About 20 minutes later, he returned from the kitchen and handed her a plate of bacon
eggs. She stared at the plate for a moment and said, “You forgot my toast.”
