KACHEMAK BAY RESEARCH RESERVE Citizen Science Teacher Workshop Friday April 23rd & Saturday 24th 2010 9 AM – 5 PM ED 583 Alaska Islands and Ocean Center in Homer, Alaska CRN:Visitor 112232 1 Credit This workshop will provide educators with handson training in environmental science by presenting a variety of classroom-ready citizen science programs active in south-central Alaska. Would you like to: Increase your knowledge of citizen science programs in Alaska? Learn how to integrate existing citizen science programs into science curricula? Learn hands-on sampling techniques and data analysis? Contribute to local, national and international monitoring efforts? Program topics include: Biodiversity surveys, invasive species and harmful algal bloom monitoring, Alaskan bat, frog and loon watch surveys, marine debris surveys, marine mammal stranding network, e-bird and feeder watch birding, and building remotely operated vehicles.
