no doubt that nativities will be with us in the

check your diaries are cleared for the various end
of term events which will be taking place in and

Senior Schools
I am delighted to announce that quite a few of
our Y6 girls have already been offered conditional
boarding school places at Benenden, St Swithun’s,
St Mary’s Calne, Wycombe Abbey and Downe
House. This is a wonderful achievement, especially
given the fact that every girl who applied to each
of the schools above has been offered a place well done one and all!
Senior Schools Fair
I am looking forward to seeing many of you at
our first ever Senior Schools Fair which takes
place from 6:30 tonight. 22 senior schools, both
day and boarding, will be attending and it will
be a wonderful opportunity for you to speak to
registrars and heads and to talk to them about
their schools in person. If you haven’t yet let Miss
Bradley know that you will be attending, please
don’t worry, just come along anyway. Please note
we have had a slight change to the schools that
will be coming.

Visit From Mrs.Mcabe
Visit from Mrs. McCabe, Headmistress of North
London Collegiate School on 16th November,
2016 at Glendower
The Glendower PA have organised a special school
presentation on Wednesday 16th November 2016
by North London Collegiate School’s outgoing
Headmistress, Mrs. Bernice McCabe.
Mrs. McCabe has been the head of NLCS for
the past 20 years and is highly regarded in her
field. NLCS’s trajectory in the rankings and its
exemplary results have been directly attributed to
her success in making the school what it is today.
In August 2016, Mrs. McCabe was asked to develop
further the international part of NLCS and
become its Director of International Schools and
Education Strategy. She will therefore step down
formally as Headmistress by the end of 2017.
Due to these reasons, Mrs. McCabe would not
be able to join our Heads’ Night panel next May.
Nevertheless, as NLCS becomes more popular for
Glendower girls every year and our two schools
continue to strengthen relations, we asked Mrs.
McCabe to come and speak to Glendower’s
parents separately from next year’s Heads’ Night
Panel. As a result, we have the pleasure of hosting
Mrs. McCabe on the evening of 16th November. A
reception will be held in the Whitehouse at 19:00
with a talk to parents in the dining room at 19:30.
If you are interested in attending the evening,
please email Miss Krissy Bradley in the
The White House
office: [email protected]. As the
presentation will take place in the dining room
of the school, numbers are limited and therefore
places will be allocated on first-come, first-served
basis. Please note that priority of place will be
given to parents of girls in the Upper School.
Thank you. Kristina Tzaneff-Milakovic
Monday’s Assembley
The assembly on Monday was very interesting, it
was about differences and how important it is to
be different. Mrs Walker chose six volunteers to
put on white masks and act exactly the same. We
also discussed some of our differences, for example
we’re different heights, we have different hair, we
have different voices, etc. We have now learnt that
it is very important to be different in many ways.

Music Assembly
It was lovely to hear several talented musicians
perform in our music assembly this week. Piano
performances from Mina-Rose Shukla and Kamilla
Nizar were particularly accomplished and a special
well-done to our brave singers, Honor Eastwood,
Natalia Milakovic and Jeanne Jegou. We eagerly
anticipate our next music assembly in a fortnight!
Oporation Christmas Child
Do you realise how fortunate you are? Have
you ever had a Christmas with no presents? We
have an opportunity to give unfortunate children
across the world an opportunity to have a happy
Christmas. Girls are encouraged to pack a shoe
box full of gifts which need to be in by the 18th
November. More information will be given in
Friday’s Assembly. Maddie Stoll

PARENT LECTURE
Another exciting Parent Lecture in which Mandy
Gurney, (founder of the leading in the field Millpond
Children’s sleep clinic), will advice us on how we
can help our children to sleep better through the
different stages in their development.
There is a common myth that sleep issues are rare
in the school-aged child but research shows an
increasing number of young children spend their
formative years chronically sleep deprived. Lack of
sleep can result in impaired academic performance,
reduced memory capacity, behavioural issues and
increased risks for a spectrum of health problems
including obesity and emotional concerns.
Mandy Gurney will explain the mystery of sleep
and sleep cycle, the impact of sleep deprivation,
what stops your child sleeping, how diet can help
and numerous sleep strategies. The talk will last
approximately 90 minutes.
There are still a few places available, so be sure
to reply soon via the Paperless Post invite in your
mailbox.
