Supporting John
Every day, we support people to live life to the full either at home, in the
community, via respite accommodation or through our award-winning
supported employment programmes. Our services are extensive and
collectively offer a unique solution based on individual need and aspiration.
This is how we make a difference.
John’s story…
Meet John. John is in his late-40s and
lives with his partner, Karen. It is in his
home where we provide ongoing support
to John.
John has a degenerative condition. It means
he finds physical tasks around the home
very tricky – this includes support getting
ready in the morning as well as preparing a
cooked meal in the evening.
After we initially supported him following
a stay in hospital, our trained and caring
team now visit John during the day and at
night, not only helping with tasks – like
making a cup of tea – but also, to give
him and Karen a lift in spirits when it might
be needed.
“I get a great deal out
of my visits – they
mean so much.”
John enjoys…
•Regular visits from our committed
and caring team
•Support with tasks that may have
become a bit of a struggle
•The chance to regularly review his
support

Supporting Cherry
Every day, we support people to live life to the full either at home, in the
community, via respite accommodation or through our award-winning
supported employment programmes. Our services are extensive and
collectively offer a unique solution based on individual need and aspiration.
This is how we make a difference.
Cherry’s story…
Meet Cherry. We support Cherry in
her own home with a variety of tasks that
makes life that little bit easier.
Unfortunately, Cherry was severely injured
in a car accident which now means she
sometimes struggles with tasks. We help her
with her shopping, cleaning, laundry or
sometimes supporting her to dry her hair
after a morning shower.
Our support means we take away
some of those everyday worries
from Cherry, helping her to become
more independent.
Cherry enjoys…
“The support I get has
made a big difference
to my life.”
•Regular visits from our friendly
‘Support at Home’ team
•Having the stress and anxiety
removed from everyday tasks
•Feeling secure – our staff use a key
safe to enter her home

Supporting Theo
Every day, we support people to live life to the full either at home, in the
community, via respite accommodation or through our award-winning
supported employment programmes. Our services are extensive and
collectively offer a unique solution based on individual need and aspiration.
This is how we make a difference.
Theo’s story…
Meet Theo. Theo has learning difficulties
and has been supported by our Back2Base
team to find a paid role he looks forward
to everyday.
When our team first met Theo, he was a
shy person missing a vision for his future.
With our support, Theo has now settled
into an active, outdoor job – at his local
supermarket – where he is valued by his
colleagues and customers.
Theo is often the first person customers
meet. Theo takes pride in welcoming
everyone to the supermarket – so much
so, that he has received an ‘Unsung Hero’
award, voted on by his colleagues,
highlighting his positive attitude.
“It’s the perfect job!
I get the chance to
talk to people – I love
doing that.”
Theo enjoys…
•New levels of self-esteem and
confidence in a role he loves
•Having a new network of friends
through his job
•Regular ongoing support from our
Back2Base team

Supporting Sanjeewa
Every day, we support people to live life to the full either at home, in the
community, via respite accommodation or through our award-winning
supported employment programmes. Our services are extensive and
collectively offer a unique solution based on individual need and aspiration.
This is how we make a difference.
Sanjeewa’s story…
Meet Sanjeewa. Sanjeewa experiences an
autistic spectrum condition and has been
supported at our Food4Thought Café in
Aylesbury for a number of years. He initially
came to Buckinghamshire Care as a client
– now, he is a paid and valued colleague.
Since he first met our team, we have
supported Sanjeewa to develop key skills,
helping him to reach his goal of being a
paid employee in an environment he
thoroughly enjoys.
Sanjeewa is a ‘front of house’ member of
the team, serving hundreds of people each
day. Over the years, Sanjeewa has
developed new levels of confidence and
skills in food hygiene and preparation,
money management and customer service.
“The staff have
supported me in many
ways – my training,
everything.”
Sanjeewa enjoys…
•New levels of self-esteem and
confidence
•A meaningful and skilled job role
•Future prospects – his next step
might be to look for further café
or catering roles

Supporting Richard
Every day, we support people to live life to the full either at home, in the
community, via respite accommodation or through our award-winning
supported employment programmes. Our services are extensive and
collectively offer a unique solution based on individual need and aspiration.
This is how we make a difference.
Richard’s story…
Meet Richard. Richard is in his 90s and – like
many older adults – values the importance
of great company, meaningful activities and
having some regularity in his life.
Richard attends Aylesbury Opportunities
Centre several times a week. Our modern,
vibrant centre gives Richard a spring in
his step every time he heads there, where
he can meet up with friends and enjoy a
hot, two-course cooked lunch.
An east-Londoner at heart, Richard enjoys
nothing more than reliving tails of years
gone by. He also plays a central role in the
centre’s music therapy sessions.
“It’s a great place
to come to, talk
about old times in
good company.”
Richard enjoys…
•A tasty, hot two-course lunch
and drink
•Meeting new people supported at
our vibrant centre
•Remaining active and alert through
a host of enjoyable sessions

Supporting Tasha
Every day, we support people to live life to the full either at home, in the
community, via respite accommodation or through our award-winning
supported employment programmes. Our services are extensive and
collectively offer a unique solution based on individual need and aspiration.
This is how we make a difference.
Tasha’s story…
Meet Tasha. Tasha has a learning disability
and is supported through our outreach
service, helping her to play a part in her
local community.
Though providing fun and enjoyable activities
is an important part of Tasha’s support,
making sure she is supported to be as
independent as possible is just as vital to
Tasha. Whether it is through using public
transport, managing money or meeting
new people.
Each week, Tasha enjoys a variety of
different group activities – like 10-pin
bowling or taking charge of a busy market
stall in the centre of her hometown. This
gives her a great chance to meet new
people and develop key skills.
“I love going bowling
and travelling on
the bus too.”
Tasha enjoys…
•Being independent – with our
encouragement, she relishes using
public transport wherever she can
•Having real confidence – our
support means we have helped
to build her self-esteem
•Trying new things – we will always
listen to what Tasha would like
to do

Supporting Bill
Every day, we support people to live life to the full either at home, in the
community, via respite accommodation or through our award-winning
supported employment programmes. Our services are extensive and
collectively offer a unique solution based on individual need and aspiration.
This is how we make a difference.
Bill’s story…
Meet Bill. Bill is in his 70s and has dementia.
He attends one of our day services in
Wycombe where he receives vital one-toone support, not only helping Bill but also
giving his wife and family reassurance.
Bill heads to our day service several times a
week. One way our staff support Bill is by
encouraging him to recollect some of the
great things he has done over the years. His
support is led by a personal ‘memory book’
which has been lovingly created by Bill’s
family, with the help of our staff.
Bill has led a busy life. He worked for several
decades on London’s railway network,
and – when reminded of his busy days at
work – our team regularly see him smile.
“Though Bill doesn’t
communicate too often, the
regular grin and glint in his
eye indicates he really enjoys
his time with us.”
Bill enjoys…
•A tasty, hot two-course lunch
and drink
•Being reminded of times gone
by – whether it be memories of
work, friends or family
•Being supported in a familiar
surrounding several times a week
