SKIN SUPPORT
Dietary Recommendation
Your pet has been prescribed the Skin Support
Diet. This diet can be used for skin conditions
such as atopic dermatitis. It can also be used for
healing, hair loss and ear infections.
The Skin Support diet is designed to help reduce
the itching, hair loss and
inflammation that your dog
may be experiencing. It
may also help control
secondary bacterial and
yeast infections and
promote skin recovery.
The Skin Support diet is
only available through
your veterinary clinic and
should be the sole
source of food unless
indicated by your
veterinarian.

Features

The Skin Barrier complex (calcium
pantothenate, inositol, niacin, choline and
histidine) helps to strengthen the barrier
function of the skin. The barrier function of the
skin can be compromised in dogs with skin
conditions.
The Skin Support complex (turmeric, aloe
vera, vitamin C and taurine) improves the
skins natural defences and promotes healing.
High levels of EPA and DHA (essential fatty
acids) can help to improve clinical symptoms
in dogs with skin conditions.
A synergistic formula of antioxidants (vitamins
E and C, taurine and lutein) help to reduce
oxidative stress and fight free radicals.
Recommendations for Use
Nutritional changes take time to show on the skin;
therefore it may take up to two months before
results will be visible. In the case of chronic
disease, this diet may need to be fed for the
lifetime of your dog.
The Skin Support diet contains turmeric, which
has a natural yellow colouring that may stain skin
and clothing upon direct contact. Therefore, it is
advised that you use the measuring cup provided
whilst handling the food and to wash your hands
thoroughly after contact with the product. We also
advise feeding in a tiled area (not on carpet).
The high fatty acid concentration in the diet
makes it sensitive to oxidation. To ensure that the
nutritional qualities are preserved please ensure
that you store the food correctly and that you
select a bag size appropriate to your dog’s size.

Changing Your Pet’s Diet
Dietary changes must be carried out slowly to
avoid gastric upsets such as diarrhoea and loose
stools. A gradual transition ensures that the
digestive system has time to adapt to the new
diet. It also encourages your dog to readily accept
the new food, which is especially important in
fussy pets.
To avoid these risks, a 7 day transition period is
recommended. The new food will be introduced
gradually into the usual diet and the former food
slowly reduced until it has been completely
replaced.
For further information about the diet or
concerns about your dog’s condition, please
do not hesitate to contact your veterinarian.
