•
•

Getting Software
The software can be downloaded from www.solidstatelogic.com/support/nucleus/downloads.asp.
To download software you will need to have completed a simple registration form – once registered you may return at any time.
To access the download pages, identify yourself using your registered email address then just select the console model
(Nucleus) and the serial number of your console. In the download page you will find:
• Nucleus Console Software, packaged as a Java archive file
• A copy of these instructions
• Mac Support Software packaged as a Zip archive
• Windows Support Software packaged as a Zip archive
The Mac and Windows support packages each contain the current Nucleus User Guide, ipMIDI and USB Soundcard drivers,
the USB Soundcard Control Panel and the Nucleus Remote – please select the appropriate package for you DAW computer.
Console Software Installation
The file format of the Java archive is compatible with both Windows and Mac (OS X only) platforms but Windows users
should ensure that they have the latest version (V6) of Java installed. This can be downloaded from www.java.com.
Once the software update file has been downloaded you are ready to install the new software. The following steps detail
this process:
1. Quit the Nucleus Remote browser if it is running.
2. On a Mac or Windows computer connected to the same network as your Nucleus, run the downloaded file
(the file will have a .JAR extension).
3. In the Nucleus Update application, click on ‘Find’, ‘Find Nucleus’ to search for your console on the
network. If an IP address corresponding to your console appears in the list, click on that entry and click
‘Select’; if your console does not appear, re-check the network configuration.
4. Check that the software version reported from your console matches the version that is running, then click
on ‘Send’.
If the process stops after the ‘Compressing Data’ message, check that your computer and the Nucleus have compatible
IP addresses and subnet masks – refer to the ‘Configuring Network Connections’ section of the Nucleus User Guide or the
on-line Nucleus FAQs for guidance and trouble shooting.
5. Once the software has been successfully sent, click on ‘Save’ to erase the old software and save the new code
into the Flash RAM on the Nucleus processor.
6. On completion of the save process, click on ‘Finish’ to quit the Nucleus Update application.
7. Turn the desk OFF, wait a short while and then switch back ON again. Check that the console boots correctly.
Check that the software version matches the new version that you downloaded.
System Requirements
Windows users should ensure that they have the latest version (V6) of Java installed.
