4. Although many of the men in the camps only value obtaining the necessities to live, some men’s values keep
them alive spiritually. Give examples of some of these men and their values.
5. Compare and contrast Elie’s relationship with his father to another father/son relationship mentioned in the
book, such as Rabbi Eliahou and his son.
6. Dehumanization is the process by which the Nazis gradually reduced the Jews to little more than “things” which
were a nuisance to them. Discuss at least three specific examples of events that occurred which dehumanized
Elie, his father, or his fellow Jews.
