Home Learning
Home learning tasks are
given on a Tuesday and
returned the following
Tuesday. All children should
be reading at least four
times a week please.
Reading:
Please support your child in
reading their latest book at
home.
Maths:
This week, the children have
been learning number bonds
to 10 and have been looking
at the patterns in these
numbers (7+3=10, 3+7=10).
Can you please support your
children to say these number
bonds aloud and write a list in
their home learning book of
all the number sentences
they can make that total 10.

Dear all,
Welcome to Bushel class’ first newsletter of the year! These
weekly newsletters will provide you with information about
what we have been learning in Bushel class and they will also
inform you of any important events which will be coming up.
I would like to begin this newsletter by thanking everyone
who came along to our Harvest celebrations. Bushel class
have been extremely excited to share their fabulous singing
skills with you all. I would also like to thank you for the
generous donations that we have received this year!
In our maths lessons this week, Bushel class have started
some work on addition. The children have been using a range
of resources to support them when adding two groups of
objects together and recording this in a number sentence.
For example, we have used cubes and counters to support
addition and will move onto using numicon and number lines
when making number bonds to 20 next week.
As are you aware, it is parents’ evening next week. This
provides an excellent opportunity for to me share the
amazing work that Bushel class have produced since beginning
their journey into year 1. During parents’ evening, we will
discuss your child’s progress to date and their current
targets. I look forward to seeing you all next week!
