In Literacy we have continued to learn poems and have begun to write some of our own. In Numeracy we have been learning to subtract (practically for YR) and to record our calculation using pictures (we cross out the pictures we take away/subtract) and to write a number sentence using the – and = signs. HOMEWORK In ‘Big Write’ on Friday we are writing about mythical creatures. Can you discuss with your child the following questions: What would your creature look like? What would it feel like?(scales or fur) How does your animal behave? What are your creatures magical powers/ skills? Phonics Reception have been learning the phonemes ‘ Tip: Year 1 have been learning to read oi/oy and ow (as in owl/cow) Tip: ‘oi’ is NEVER used at the end of a word, in this case use ‘‘oy’. When sounding out a word with the digraph ‘ow’ try saying ‘ow’ as in cow but if this doesn’t sound right then try again saying ‘ow’ as in kmow (oa) Show and Tell: Friday Friday Friday Friday 24th will be the turn of YR. 31st will be the turn of Y1. 7th Feb will be the turn of YR. 14th Feb will be the turn of Y1 On weeks when it is not a child’s turn for show & tell, they may bring a game or small toy from home for Golden Time.
