In Literacy we have continued to learn poems and have begun to write some of our own.
In Numeracy we have been learning to subtract (practically for YR) and to record our
calculation using pictures (we cross out the pictures we take away/subtract) and to write a
number sentence using the – and = signs.
HOMEWORK
In ‘Big Write’ on Friday we are writing about mythical creatures. Can you discuss with your
child the following questions:
What would your creature look like?
What would it feel like?(scales or fur)
How does your animal behave?
What are your creatures magical powers/ skills?
Phonics
Reception have been learning the phonemes ‘
Tip:
Year 1 have been learning to read oi/oy and ow (as in owl/cow)
Tip: ‘oi’ is NEVER used at the end of a word, in this case use ‘‘oy’. When sounding out a word
with the digraph ‘ow’ try saying ‘ow’ as in cow but if this doesn’t sound right then try again
saying ‘ow’ as in kmow (oa)
