Methods: ­​ ​Students will learn about various critical lenses in literary theory. ­​ ​Each day, we will define and discuss a particular critical lens. ­​ ​Each evening, students will read and annotate an example of the critical lens that was studied that day. ­​ ​After discussing the final lens, students will work in small groups for Exam Circles before testing on Literary Criticism—this allows a student­led review of the material, as well as teacher monitoring for understanding. Assessments: ­​ ​Collection of an annotation last week to see student understanding—both formative and summative ­​ ​Collection of archetypal/mythological assignment—both formative and summative—to see application of a critical lens outside of literature (film). ­​ ​Exam Circles to monitor understanding of material prior to test—formative. ­​ ​Test with multiple types of questions on pre­studied material (test monitors critical thinking and objective, factual questions)
