Dear Parent/Guardian,
Thanks to everyone who returned their questionnaires. The results have now been collated and
reviewed and were again very positive. 100% of parents were again satisfied overall with their
child’s experience at school, with an increased percentage strongly agreeing with this statement.
Nearly 70% strongly agreed that their child enjoyed coming to school whilst no families reported
that their child did not enjoy school, a fact we are very proud of. The responses to all questions
were overwhelmingly positive with more families strongly agreeing with statements than in
previous years and an overall increase in positive responses. We really appreciate the support for
the school that this reflects – our partnership with you as parents is vital for the children’s
progress.
Our prime concern in school is that children are safe and are making the best progress they can.
We are very pleased that parents also feel that this is a high priority in school with all families
reporting that their child is safe and teaching is good. We have introduced the Parent Afternoons
to help parents understand how their child is taught now we have a new curriculum and we have
continued to offer parent workshops to help parents support their child at home.
There were three families who felt that we did not inform them sufficiently about their child’s
progress. We have changed the format of the Parent’s Evenings to make them more accessible for
all parents, whether at work or not. To make it easier for you to arrange convenient
appointments, we have invested in a new system for booking appointments online. This will be
starting from the next round of parents’ evenings in March, and we will be in touch nearer the
time to explain how to use it. We have already introduced written feedback for these evenings to
help parents remember what the feedback was and we operate an open door policy for parents
to speak to the class teachers every hometime (or before school by appointment). If parents have
any ideas on how we can improve this, we would be glad to discuss it further.
Two families did not believe that we deal effectively with unacceptable behaviour. We have a very
clear policy on behaviour management and insist on the highest standards however primary
school is the main time in children’s lives when they have to learn how to make friends and how
to break friends. This inevitably leads to some disagreements, which are always dealt with
promptly by staff. As an inclusive school we also cater for children with a range of needs, some of
which involve difficulties in controlling their own behaviour. As 100% of families feel that we cater
for their child’s needs, we are confident that this is an area which we are tackling, with the
support of appropriate external agencies.
We thank all parents who made comments on the form and I have tried to respond to the points
made. There were again some requests regarding a Before/After school club. We looked at this
three years ago and there was not enough support to make it financially viable, however we will
review this decision and you will find further details attached to this letter.
Thank you for your continued support. Please feel free to discuss any issues directly with myself
(I’m usually available on the link every morning) or any staff as we operate an open door policy.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs L Cooper
