APPENDIX V I I I I 4 I 4 1 8 Tailings Sampling Program, Grade and Tonnage Calculations: by W.M. Ash and Associates; November 3. 1995 and January 15, 1996. 1 SUMMARY This forward to the Assessment Reports on the McMaster claim groups I and I1 briefly deals with the various facets of work carried out on surface and underground at the Ladner Creek Project between September 25, 1995 and June 15, 1996. The work was carried out by various contractors and consulting groups, most of which are listed here. A statement of costs is included to cover all work, with an equal breakdown between the two McMaster goups. LOCATION AND ACCESS The McMaster claim groups J and I1 are situated approximately 17 kilometres northeast of Hope, B.C., and lie west of the Ladner Creek (Figure 1). The approximate centre of the claims is at latitude 49 O 32' and longitude 12 1 17' (Figure 2). O Elevation in the area ranges from 500 to 1530 metres. Access is from Hope via the Coquihalla Highway for 25 kilometres, then up the Ladner Creek Mine Road (old Carolin Mine road) for 6.2 kilometres to the Carolin mill site. Various roads take off from there to cover most of the property. The southern part of the property (mainly crown grants) have been logged in the past. A section of the northern part of the property has been logged recently from the Siwash Creek connector. I CLAIR1 STATUS I The McMaster claim groups I and I1 consist of McMaster 1 to 123, two post claims, hlchlaster 1 and 2 fractions, Elman Creek 1 (S units) and 9 crown ,orants. 4 1 B I Table 1 contains a master claims list and grouping list for McMaster claim groups I and 11. showing the recording dates and owners. Cardinal in the appended reports. Considerable detail is also included in the above two reports on the program from September 25, 1995 to June 15, 1996. Athabaska’s objectives for the above period were: Collect sufficient, unoxidized and representative material from underground to complete exhaustive metallurgical test work to arrive at an economically viable ana environmentally sound milling process. Drill the existing tailings on a representative basis for metallurgical and economic evaluation. Drive approximately 280 metres of drift on the 875 level to permit diamond drilling of the northern projection of the Idaho Zone(s). Diamond drill the Idaho Zone projection, hrther test the 3 Zone. and probe for other targets from the new drift and existing workings. Further test the McMaster Zone with surface diamond drilling. Prospect the northern parts of the property and the McMaster, Lorraine and Pipestem areas. Enter all data on computer. printing out new sections and plans for study, guidance and ore reserve calculations. 10 WORK PROGRAM Athabaska’s objectives resulted in the work programs that are documented in the appended reports. The program for objectives 1. 3, 4 and 7 is covered by the June I , 1996 report by J.T. Shearer in Appendix I and the metallurgy for objective 1 by Mellis Engineering (September 2 1, 1995 to April 23. 1996) in Appendix 111. Ash and Associates in their reports ofNovember 3, 1995 and January 15, 1996 cover the work prosrams for tailings (objective 2) and for drilling and sampling (Appendix 5) while Mellis Ensheering reports cover the metallurgy studies on the tailings. The report by -Mr. D.G. Cardinal dated February 25, 1996 on McMaster and Lorraine Zones (Appendix 11) covers the work program with regards to objectives 5 and 6. In addition. the Golder and Associates report on the Tailings Dam Inspection dated October 27, 1995 (Appendix IV) gives an update of the tailings dam conditions. The reader is referred to all of the above-mentioned reports for details of the various facets of the September 25. 1995 to June 15, 1996 program for the Ladner Creek Project. 11 STATEMENT OF COSTS The following is the statement of costs for the Ladner Creek Project, and includes all expenditures dated from September 25, 1995 to June 15, 1996.
