January Calendar Jan 1 Jan 12 Jan 15 Jan 26 New Year Day National Youth Day Army Day & Makara Sankranti Republic Day Story of the Month Betty Botter One day, Betty Botter wanted to bake a cake. She bought some cheap butter to bake it. But something was wrong with the butter. “This butter is bitter," said Betty Botter as she tasted the butter. “If I put it in my cake batter, it will make the batter bitter. But, if I put a bit of better butter, that would make my batter better." So, she went off to buy better butter than her bitter butter. She mixed a bit of better butter into her cake batter. She tasted the batter and was happy that the batter was not bitter. She adopted the best way to solve the problem, because there will always be one. He was a monk, a patriot, an excellent orator, and a lifelong Karmayogi, who dedicated each and every second of his adult life for the sake of his country, its people, and Sanatana Dharma. His life’s mission was to see India and its people rise and reclaim its past glory. His work aimed at uplifting the poor and establishing Dharma. His call for action, his call for strength and renouncement of weakness, not only laid the foundation for India’s freedom struggle, but also showed the path which Indians must travel to attain progress and well-being. Today, January 12, is the 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, and the whole country rightly celebrates it as National Youth India. Swami Vivekananda firmly believed that the nation’s youth holds the key for solving the many problems facing India. He repeatedly called for youths to awaken, arise, and work for the nation and its people. Message: “I have faith in my country, especially in the youth of my country. My hope is in you. With an immense amount of feeling and enthusiasm in the blood will come heroes who will march from one corner of the earth to the other, preaching and teaching the eternal spiritual truths of our forefathers.” Amrita Vidyalayam, Davangere Unknown or lesser-known facts Kangaroo Did you know, Kangaroos cannot walk backwards!
