26th Ave N. Reconstruction Beginning
Monday
The 26th Ave N paving project is resuming on Tuesday May 31. Construction this year will primarily
takeplace along 26th Ave N from Broadway to Irving Ave N. The project area for 2016 is shown in red
on the detour map below.
Additional information and updates on this project are available at the Project Web Site or on
Facebook
HYDRANT RELOCATE WORK
COMPLETE
The hydarnt relocates along 26th Ave N between Broadway and Humboldt has been
completed. There may be some additional water work to concrete encase some portions of the main;
however this is to be done along with the roadway construction.
The sanitary sewer and water main upgrades at 2nd St. N and 26th Ave N will be completed next
week and the area will be patched shortly thereafter.
CONSTRUCTION
Construction is scheduled to begin on the week of May 31st and estimated to be substantially
completed with new pavement by late October. The project will include complete removal and
replacement of the pavement surface, curb and gutter, storm drains, driveway approaches, and
sidewalk, new trees and sod, and installation of a new off-street bike path. Please understand that the
construction schedules are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
The pavement and north sidewalk will be removed between Broadway and Irving starting next
week. There will be some trees removed as they are in the proposed bikeway, the trees to be
removed this year are marked with an orange X. There will be new trees planted in 2017-2018.
Once the removals and underground utility work is complete, the new concrete pavement can be
placed. At times during paving, the new concrete will be blocked off to allow the fresh pavement to
cure. If the approach to your driveway is on 26th Ave N., we will notify you in advance of placing your
new driveway approach as well as roadway paving and ask you to park at another location for
approximately 7 days. During the majority of construction, local access to homes and businesses will
be maintained. Through traffic will be detoured around the project on Lowry Avenue.
Our construction activities are likely to cause you some inconvenience, but we are hopeful that you
will be patient and understanding as the work progresses. For our part, we will do our best to keep
these inconveniences at a minimum.
