For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. Exodus 34:12-14: Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare among you. Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and cut down their Asherah poles. Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ 2. Jealous Commandments Deuteronomy 5:7-10: "You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand [generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments." ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ 3. Jealous Anger Deuteronomy 6:13-19: Fear the LORD your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name. Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you; for the LORD your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land. 1 Kings 14:22: Judah did evil in the eyes of the LORD. By the sins they committed they stirred up his jealous anger more than their fathers had done. Nahum 1:2-3: The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance and is filled with wrath. The LORD takes vengeance on his foes and maintains his wrath against his enemies. The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty unpunished. ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ Genesis 30:1: When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister.
