• At the CougarNet homepage, you may select to enter
CougarNet in one of two ways:

• Enter your e-ID and password and click ‘LOGIN’.
• Or enter your University ID (800 number located on your Cougar Card) and PIN
and click ‘Login’. If this is your first time logging in your PIN is your birthdate in

• If you are prompted to change your password or PIN upon login, simply follow
the on-screen instructions to continue.

• Select the subject(s) listed in the scroll down selection menu to view all course
sections for the registration term selected.
• To select more than one subject, hold down the ‘CTRL’ key on your
keyboard as you make your selections.

registration term selected.
• To view the course sections, click the ‘View Sections’ button to the right of the

CLASS SEARCH
Using the ‘Advanced Search’ option
You may use any of the search criteria provided. Please note
that you must select at least one subject.
To select more than one criteria in any field, hold down the
‘CTRL’ key on your keyboard as you make your selections.
You may want to keep your search simple at first and then
narrow down your criteria after you see what is available.
Once you have selected/entered your search criteria, click
the ‘Section Search’ button.
Clicking the ‘Reset’ button will clear any search criteria you
have chosen.

• Select the checkbox in front of the course(s) for which you wish to register.
•
Note: A ‘C’ in place of a checkbox identifies a closed course. You may check back often to
see if openings have become available.
• Click the ‘CRN’ to see additional information about the class.
• When building your schedule, it is best to click the ‘Add to WorkSheet’ button
rather than the ‘Register’ button in case any of the classes have co-requisite or
link requirements.
• ‘Add to WorkSheet’ will add the selected course(s) to the Add Classes
Worksheet on the Add or Drop Classes page.

determine the reason for the registration error.

• Attempt to resolve your errors by searching for a new
course or adding a co-requisite, if required.
• You may view information regarding course pre-requisites
and restrictions by clicking on the title of the class while you
are in the ‘Class Schedule’ or the CRN while you are in the
‘Class Search’ area.
• If you require additional assistance, contact your Advisor.
• Refer to the Office of the Registrar website at

WAITLIST A CLASS
• To waitlist a course, return to the Add or Drop Classes page.
• From the Main Menu, select the ‘Student’ option.
• From the Student Menu, select the ‘Registration’ option.
• From the Registration Menu, select the ‘Add or Drop Classes’
option.
• On the Registration Term page, select the term for which you
are waitlisting the course(s), and click the ‘Submit’ button.
• If prompted, enter the 6-digit enrollment PIN given to you by
your advisor in the ‘Alternate PIN’ field on the
Enrollment/Alternate PIN page, and click the ‘Submit’ button.

VERIFY WAITLIST AVAILABILITY
• When you enter the CRN for a course that is closed, one of the
Registration Add Errors messages below appears.
• If a course you wish to register for is closed, you may be allowed to
add yourself to the Waitlist for that course as indicated in the MATH
125 example above. Securing a waitlist spot does not guarantee
eventual entry into a class, but it does make it more likely for you to
gain entry should an opening arise.

VERIFY WAITLIST AVAILABILITY
• You may also view the status of a course and whether or not it has a waitlist
option while viewing it in the Class Search as shown below.
• The absence of a check-box in the Select column indicates that a course
may be Closed with an available Waitlist.
• The Rem (remaining) field will indicate how many seats are left in a course.
If the number of remaining seats is 0, the section is Closed.
• The WL Cap (capacity) field will indicate maximum number of spaces
available on the waitlist; the WL Act (actual) field will indicate how many
students are already on the waitlist; and the WL Rem (remaining) field will
indicate whether or not there are any open spaces available on the waitlist.

VERIFY WAITLISTED COURSES
The ‘Add or Drop Classes’ and ‘Registration History’ options are the only two
places to see your waitlisted courses. They will not show up as part of your
regular schedule until you have been officially registered.
