Welcome...
to the 16th Forest Row Festival!
We’ve raised the funds, thanks to a great effort by the
community, and the festival is back and as great as ever
Welcome once again to the Forest Row Festival. The village has pulled together
and dug deep to raise the funds to ensure that all the music and entertainment
on the Village Green will again be free for everyone. As usual we have assembled a fantastic array of predominantly local musical talent to entertain you over
the weekend. As well as the bands, the Green will host craft stalls, a dazzling
array of delicious food options, and all sorts of other fun and games.
The Festival has always prided itself on being part of the community, and there
will be a rich assortment of events around the village. The Community Centre
will host a Fifties Tea Dance featuring Sweetheart Swing on Sunday afternoon,
and there will be a Community Art Exhibition at the Baptist Church. For fans of
the spoken word, there will be a unique take on Shakespeare’s Cymbeline at
the Storytelling Hut at Emerson College, and back on the Village Green the Pericles team will be performing Beatrix Potter’s Tailor of Gloucester.
Thank you for coming. We hope you have a brilliant weekend!

The FR Festival team
Every year, the festival is put together entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers. The team evolves each year; if you want to help organise the next festival
in any way, please come to see us at the info point or contact us through our
website.
This year the core team was: Lisa Fitzsimmons, Mike Eady, Chris Packe, Tom
Povilaitis, Rob Hunt, Matt Hatton, Erika Blaxland-de Lange, James Johnston, Jonothan Hunt and Rosa Ter Kuile
On The Green
The Green will be the focal point for this year’s festival. As well as a stunning array of talent on the
music stage, and a fabulous range of beer at the beer fest, there will be many other attractions to
keep you entertained (and well fed and watered).
Forest Row Foodie Festival
The festival team have put together a mouth watering selection of food stalls to cater for every possible taste. All are sourced locally and we can promise (we have tried them all!!) that they will be of
the highest quality. These include a Fish BBQ provided by Veasey of Forest Row; Biodynamic BBQ
by Jacobs Ladder; DJ-S Spot, The Czech and Slovak Food People; Scandinavian street food from
Fine and Scandi; Veggie Love Bites providing vegetarian and vegan tasty treats; wood-fired pizza
from the Pizza Wagon; Podgy the Pie Man selling fresh baked pastries; Greek Deli with a wide selection of traditional Greek dishes from Thessalonika; Paella from The Paella Fella (of course); Vintage Scoops ice cream; Shiva Chai's authentic chai, waffles and other snacks; and coffee and tea
by Dinkyccino.
Local crafts
As well as food, we have local crafts too, including Pericles; hand made “upcycled clothing” by
ecomakers emporium; vintage inspired clothing by Gabrielle Parker; Chinese crafts by Chrissie Johnson; vintage accessories by Gwyneth Hall; Kashmiri shawls by Wrapupinstyle; individually designed
clothing and accessories by Rosy Friday’s fashion; jewellery by Deborah Escobar, Lucy Bradshaw,
Theresa Nikolic, Caroline Bousigue, Carolyn & Mousie Murray; and ceramics by Ximena Heasman;
Suzy Miller will be on hand to advise on “starting over”.
Beer Festival
This year the festival bar will be run by our friends at The Hop Yard, so expect craft beers, great
cocktails and the obligatory braces. More details of the beers, ciders and other delights that will be
on offer in the festival beer tent are listed opposite.
..and the rest
The Green will also host lots of other fun and games over the course of the weekend, including tugof-war, a coconut shy and bouncy castle. And there will also be a few surprises in store.
Buy a Raffle Ticket to win amazing prizes
This year there will be two prize raffles in support of Festival funds, helping
to keep the main event free. During the day, for just a pound, we will be
raffling some amazing prizes donated by our generous community. During
the evenings, again for only a pound, the prize is five drinks of your choice
from the bar. Imagine, a round for a pound. It feels like 1967!!
Festival Beer Fest
Thank you
Every year it costs about £10,000 to put on the festival. The funds come from a combination of revenue
from the beer fest and stall holders, the raffle, grants, fund-raising events and private contributions. This
year, again, the main event on The Green is free. No tickets or wristbands! The Festival would not be
possible without the kind help of all our sponsors and supporters. Thanks from the festival organisers
to the following for generously supporting us and making the Festival possible:
Java and Jazz Restaurant of Forest Row
Howard Cundey
Contributions via Fundrazr and PayPal

THE TAILOR OF GLOUCESTER
By Pericles Theatre Company and Atelier Community Theatre
THE MARQUEE ON THE GREEN
Sunday 25th September at 10.30am (50mins).
Award winning theatre company returns to the Forest Row Festival with an hilarious and heart-warming adaptation of Beatrix Potter's The Tailor of Gloucester - about a poor tailor, who falls foul of his
cat when he rescues the mice. A merry adventure for all the family; full of nursery rhymes, songs and
humour. This company is much loved for producing children's theatre which simultaneously tickles
the funny bones of the grown-ups. The perfect show to celebrate the 150 year anniversary of the
birth of Beatrix Potter! Directed by Vasile Nedelcu - Winner of Best Family Show at Brighton Fringe
2005/2015. Music arranged by David Brett (one of the original Flying Pickets who had a Number
One Hit with Only You in 1983).
What the public says:
'We absolutely loved the play (or is it a musical?), it was an utter delight. All 3 generations of us, grandchildren, mummy and
daddy and grandpa. Giles (5) giggled all the
way through. Jem (7) watched in awe, Bunty
(2.5) sat on my lap and kept telling me what
was happening! Wonderful!' John
'That was a wonderful, joyful and magical
experience! Amazing creativity and beautifully produced. A total joy and the best Sunday
either of us has had this year! Thank you for
a tremendous time' Neil Holmes.
