“I hated him.”
“I thought she was cute… really cute.”
“I was quiet and insecure, and he was this
confident boy. I was so jealous because he
just had this gift for being confident, loud,
smart, and I was just really quiet.”
“Me and my seventh grade intelligence
assumed she just wasn’t having fun or
something. I would talk, poke fun, and see
if I could ever get a reaction out of her…I
think she hated me.”
“Then, in eighth grade Spanish class, we
became friends and we stayed friends.”
“I used that time to set her up with my
friend.”
“We went on dates in freshman year, but
I wouldn’t say yes to being his girlfriend.”
“One of the first serious dates we had,
junior year, March 21st, the day I asked her
to be my girlfriend, we went to Fontenelle
Forest, we heard this owl, and we could
see it; but we wanted to see if we could get
closer. We chased it…just chased this owl
for like thirty minutes, it was really fun.”
“The pep rally was our six month anniversary!”
“I asked her that morning. I spent roughly five days. This is going to get awkward. I
Heart felt moment at Homecoming dance
spent them making a box of 365 cards with
reasons why I love her. I wrote one extra
notecard asking her to Homecoming.”
“We didn’t think we were going to make it
on court.”
“I knew Grace would make it on court.
The only chance I had was if people would
vote for Grace and then see my name.”
“That’s so not true! He talks to everyone.
He’s friends with everyone.”
“When I was crowned king, I knew it was
because Grace was crowned queen.”
“I was just like no, no, no; and Elias is not
crowning me. And I was shaking so bad.
And crying. And shaking.”
“Oh, I went into robot mode. I lost all
sense of what was going on and it was like
tunnel vision. [Mr. Froendt] whispered in
my ear that Grace is your queen. It was
absolutely crazy. The whole place erupted
for her.”
“That’s because you were crowning me!”
“I really can’t comprehend it.”
“He’s so selfless. I’ve never opened a car
door our whole relationship…He’s just like
everything that I didn’t even know I liked,
perfectly matched into one person.”
“She’s energetic, loving, caring- incredibly
caring. That’s the first thing I noticed about
her…She will put others before herself
every single time. I’ve never seen her put
herself first.”
“I’m in DECA, Spanish National Honors
Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Beta Club, I have
been my Cross Country team captain since
sophomore year. I’m in WTV, Science
Club…I’ve gone on four mission trips with
my church.”
“She’s accomplished a lot more in high
school than I have.”
“My career dream is to be a doctor for
Doctors Without Borders… On the other
hand I want to be a really good mom and
wife.”
“I play golf for Westside…I do WTV…I
would like to do narrative films; any way I
can tell a story. A director of photography
is kind of the goal…Chapmann University
is probably where I’ll go.”
“He is extremely talented. He just has
this gift for production and everything he
touches is beautiful.”
“Yeah, she does ramble.”
