STEM: ANTE - BEFORE

antecedent (n.) – the history, events, or characteristics of one’s earlier
life
Ex. Little is known about Napoleon Bonaparte’s birth or antecedents.

anticlimax (n.) – an event or conclusion that is far less important or
powerful than expected.
Ex. After serving as President, Obama may find life to be somewhat of
an anticlimax when he leaves office.

something
Ex. Instead of going through the heavy traffic, I was able to
circumnavigate it by driving just outside the city limits.
