Recent Timeline

Feb 15 – DoD Nuclear Oversight Board (NOB) wanted AF to review NC3
authorities/responsibilities/resourcing

Mar 15 - SECAF/CSAF designated AFGSC as Mission Area Lead Command

Apr 15 - CSAF directed AFGSC/CC to stand-up task force to develop organizational
construct, identify needed resources, authorities, and command relationships

Jun 15 - Task Force recommendations approved by AF Leadership , Examples:

Designate AF NC3 as a weapon system

Designate AFGSC as Lead Command for AF owned pieces of NLCC & NC3 system

Establish a Program Executive Officer for AF-owned portions of NC3

Establish AF NC3 Advisory Council chaired by AFGSC/CC; reporting through the NOB

Jul 15 - AFGSC chartered 5 HPTs to develop execution plans for approved
recommendations

Sep 15 - AFMC/CC established Nuclear C3 Integration Directorate in AFNWC

Dec 15 – 1st Ever NC3 Weapon System Review

4 Jan 16- SAF/AQ established PEO for Air Force NC3 and directly related NLCC
