1.1 Introduction of this guide 1.1.1 Purpose of this guide This document serves as a manual for operators of the HondaLink application. To help in operating and managing the application, we have provided answers to some of the common questions expected from the end users in FAQ format. 1.1.2 How to use this guide This guide provides questions and answers to some of the frequently asked questions. However, we do not expect our user to ask exactly the same questions in this guide. Please find the closest questions and provide answers. If you cannot find close questions, please contact IBM contact center. 1-5 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 1.1.3 System Overview Below is the overview of the system management. HIC center works as a bridge to connect dealer management system and HondaLink app each user has. With a linkage to dealer management system, Local office and dealer staff are able to send messages and reminders best fit for each customer. And also they can help users keep a track of maintenance and other schedules. 【Overview】 1-6 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 2 Install&Sign up This chapter provides some FAQs regarding how to install and sign up for HondaLink application. 2-7 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 2.1 Where Can I get? QUESTION Where can I get the HondaLink application? ANSWER How to get the application using iPhone and Android are different. For iPhone Users can get it from the AppStore. Use the keyword below to search in the AppStore. The application will be listed and you can simply select "Install". Keyword:HondaLink For Android Users can get it from the Google Play Store. Use the keyword below to search in Google Play Store. The application will be listed and you can simply select "Install". Keyword:HondaLink 2-8 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 2.2 Support Environment 1 QUESTION What is the supported environment to use HondaLink application? ANSWER As of March 2013, it supports the following Smartphone environments. Supported versions may increase in future updates. iPhone OS: iOS5.X above Support Device: iPhone4, iPhone4S and iPhone5 Remarks: For iPhone4, updating to iOS5 is required. Android OS: Android 2.2, Android 2.3 #Android 4.X is not yet supported. Support Device: Devices that support the above OS. Remarks: For Android devices, each have their own resolution so there may be cases where items are not displayed properly. Other HondaLink does not support individual feature phone. 2-9 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 2.3 Support Environment 2 QUESTION I am using Android 2.2 which is supported. However, the application screen sometimes has display format issues. ANSWER In Android, even when using the same OS versions, it Smartphone's resolution. We try to support as many however, there are still cases of display format issues. contact our customer support and provide a description would depend on the devices as possible, If such issues occur, of the occurrence as well as information of the Smartphone device you are using. To immediately reflect the reported device would be difficult, we will consider improvement of the application in the next development. ■Include such items as: ・OS version e.g. Android 2.3 ・Device manufacturer, device name e.g. Samsung Galaxy S2 ・Screen or function where the problem has occurred e.g. Refuel ・Description/symptom of the problem 2-10 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 2.4 Usage Condition QUESTION Do we need to make payments to use the HondaLink application? Also, do we need to buy Honda vehicles to use this application? ANSWER Use of HondaLink is free. As long as you create an account, any user is able to use the application. Even if you are not a Honda vehicle user, you can create an account. However, to use the HondaLink Navigation will require a separate fee. . I. Registering at the dealer upon a visit of dealer When visit the Honda Dealer, if requested, the dealer will issue an account and register your vehicle for you. Using the account provided by the Dealer, you can use the HondaLink application. 2-11 HondaLink Application Administration Guide II. Self-registration: Clicking on the "Create Account" button the application enables you to create an account for yourself. In this case, when using for the first time, you will need to register a minimum amount of information related to your vehicle. # Difference between dealer registration and self-registration In the case of dealer registration, the required vehicle information and Part Maintenance information to receive services are automatically set. However, for self-registration, the required vehicle information and parts' initial setting to receive services need to be entered manually by user. 2-12 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 2.5 I do not know the Model Year or Model Name of my own car (self-registration) QUESTION I do not know the Model Year or Model Name of my own car, so I can not select the Car List. What should I do? ANSWER If you do not know the MODEL YEAR or PRODUCT NAME of your vehicle, check you vehicle's VIN number and contact the call center. Then operator will teach you the Model Year or Model Name of your car. *This answer depends on the operation of each local office. Need to be confirmed by each local. 2-13 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 2.6 I cannot find my car name from the list. (Self-registration) QUESTION When registering on the Sign up screen, the vehicle I own is not displayed in the list. Which vehicle should I select? ANSWER Generally, vehicle list that are sold in your country are displayed. Most of the main Honda vehicles can be selected from the list. If your vehicle is not in the list, you will need to input the name. I. Own a Honda vehicle that is not listed: Select "OTHER", then on the "PRODUCT NAME”, enter the name of the vehicle. (e.g.) N BOX II. Own a non-Honda vehicle: Select "NO HONDA", then on the "PRODUCT NAME", enter the name of the vehicle. (e.g.) SKYLINE GT 2009 2-14 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 2.7 Unable to create an account (self-registration) QUESTION I have entered my e-mail address in the account registration screen, but the following message appeared and was unable to create an account. ANSWER The same e-mail address may have already been used to create an account. In this case, you cannot create a new account. At the Sign In screen, clicking on the "?" mark will take you to the Password Reset function. From there, you can change the password. You should now be able to Sign In using your e-mail address with the newly changed password. 2-15 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 2.8 E-mail has not arrived (self-registration) QUESTION On the Sign Up screen, I have registered my account (e-mail address). After registering, a message that an e-mail has been sent was displayed, but the e-mail has not arrived. ANSWER As part of the mailing system, even if there is an error in the e-mail address, or an error has occurred when sending an e-mail, error message will not be displayed. Also, please check if you have not set any mailing filters. The e-mail will be sent under the "hondalink.com" domain. After change the setting, please recreate your account with Create Account. If more than an hour has passed and no e-mail has been received, it is likely that there is an error in the e-mail address you input. In this case, please recreate your account with Create Account. 2-16 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 2.9 Cannot enter password QUESTION An error occurs when entering a password. ANSWER There are several cases where an error occurs when entering a password. Screen displays the following error messages when an error occurs. * Several messages can be displayed simultaneously, Error Message Description/Solution * This field is required. ANSWER For plate number and nickname, you can change in the Settings -> Car -> Detail Setting. As for vehicle type, this cannot be changed in “Settings”. For now, create a new vehicle based on the correct vehicle type using the ”Add Car” function, then you would need to remove the old vehicle using ”Remove”. 2-19 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 3 Home screen This chapter provides some FAQs regarding the Home screen of HondaLink. 3-20 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 3.1 Avatars QUESTION After registration, an avatar of a car is displayed, but it is different from the type of vehicle I own. I own a sports car, but the avatar displayed is a sedan shaped car. ANSWER We do not have avatars for non-Honda vehicle and also for some Honda vehicles. Please use the default avatar for these cases. 3-21 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 3.2 Vehicle Photo QUESTION I have two smartphones and from one I used a photo image instead of an avatar. When I log in from the second smartphone, the photo image does not appear. Why this happen? ANSWER Photo images are stored locally in your smartphone. Ttherefore when you change smartphones, the photo image does not appear. 3-22 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 3.3 Road Service Application Startup Icon QUESTION I have registered two vehicles to HondaLink. On the Home Screen of one vehicle (Honda car), the startup icon for the Road Service application is displayed. However, when I select another vehicle (Non-Honda car), the icon is not displayed. What are the conditions for displaying the startup icon for the Road Service application? ANSWER When selecting a Honda vehicle, the startup icon for the Road Service application predefined by Honda is displayed. If the application is not installed into your smartphone, tapping this icon brings you to App store/ Google play to install the app. If the selected vehicle is not a Honda, the icon will not be displayed. Honda Car Non Honda Car 3-23 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 3.4 Navigation Application Startup Icon QUESTION Can I use a navigation application from navigation application startup icon? ANSWER You need to get and install a navigation application. Then you can start the application from the navigation application startup icon. Please contact us how to get and install the navigation application and the terms of use. 3-24 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4 Fuel、Statistics、Pins、Car Communication、Find My Car、Car Log This chapter provides some FAQs regarding Fuel, Statistics, Pins and Car Log functions. 4-25 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4-26 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.1 Fuel Tank Amount QUESTION Regarding Fuel, the size of the fuel tank differs according to each vehicle. Where is this being set? Also, can we change the fuel tank amount by ourselves? ANSWER The tank's maximum capacity comes from the master information maintained by the center. For "Other" and "Non Honda" which have no vehicle master data, set it to the default value 100l. If you want to change the fuel tank amount, you can change it in the Settings > -> Car -> Detail Setting. 4-27 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.2 Regarding “Tank Full” QUESTION In the “Refuel” screen, there is a check button indicated "Tank Full?”. What is this button for? ANSWER Tap the “Tank Full?” button when you have filled up your fuel tank. (e.g.) Added 20L fuel, tank is full → Tap the “Tank full” button Added 20L fuel, but tank is not full → no need to tap the“Tank full” button This is used when calculating fuel efficiency in the Statistics function. Using the full tank as the starting point, it calculates the consumed fuel and the driving distance to calculate the fuel efficiency Therefore, in order to have an accurate calculating of the fuel efficiency, tapping the "Tank Full" button is necessary. 4-28 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.3 Add previous fueling records QUESTION I want to add previous fueling information (that has passed the assigned date) in order to modify my fueling history. ANSWER For fueling functions, you can add previous records of refueling. Tap the point marked in red and select the date of which you would like to add refuel history, as shown in the screens below. When the past records are input, fuel efficiency will be recalculated and the information displayed in the statistics will be updated. 4-29 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.4 Statistics Odometer QUESTION The distance displayed in the Statistics is different from the one previously registered by myself. How is this distance being calculated? ANSWER The distance displayed in Statistics is not just a simple display of the distance that was previously registered but is the estimated distance calculated based on the expected annual running distance and the last date previously registered. If this differs from the actual odometer value, it can be updated using the Update Odometer function. If odometer value displayed on the app is constantly different from your current odometer value, you might need to review the expected annual mileage you have entered in the Settings->Car->Detail Setting. When connected to Disapplay Audio, it will automatically reflects the value of odometer. 4-30 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.5 Change fueling information QUESTION In Fuel, if I want to change the values in the fueling information that I have already registered, what steps need to be taken? ANSWER There is no function that allows you to change information that has been registered. So please display the fuel event on the Car Log screen and delete the fueling event. Assign the date (past date) of the fueling information that had been deleted and re-register the information. 4-31 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.6 Fuel Efficiency in Statistics is not updated QUESTION I have refueled but the fuel information in the Statistics has not been updated. ANSWER Fuel Efficiency calculations in Statistics are based on checking whether the fuel is at full tank. If this has not been checked, even if there are several fuel histories, it will not be reflected in the calculation. When connected to Display Audio, Fuel Efficiency on the statistics screen will reflect the value of Trip A. 4-32 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.7 Search spot information QUESTION Can I search my favorite spot with Pins? ANSWER Sorry, we don’t have such kind of function. Instead, you can zoom Pins map by swiping. So you can find out your favorite place soon. 4-33 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.8 SNS spot information QUESTION Can I set additional SNS spot information in the SNS place list? ANSWER SNS spot information is extracted from SNS (Foursquare and Facebook) automatically. So if you can’t find your favorite place in the list, please tap “Add Location” button to add the place. If you can’t find any SNS spot information in the list, please setup your SNS information at SNS Setting screen first. 4-34 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.9 Share Check-In information QUESTION Who can share with my Check-In information? ANSWER If you do not set your SNS setting, you can choose whether you share the information with yourself only or with vehicle users. If you want to share with your friends who have relation with Foursquare or Facebook, please tap SNS button. However, it depends on your SNS setting who can share with your Check-In information. 4-35 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.10 Find My Car QUESTION In case of stolen or something, I can find my car by this function? ANSWER We are sorry, this function is just a memo to record where the car is parked by yourself. So you can’t find the car by this function. 4-36 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.11 Location information of Find My Car QUESTION Can I know the height information by this function’s location information? ANSWER This function has only coordinates of longitude and latitude. So when you record parking information of the car, floor information needs to be recorded carefully. t 4-37 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.12 Contents of Car Communication QUESTION Wat is the contents of Car Communication screen? ANSWER Info from the last drive will be reflected to Car Communication screen (Car Communication is displayed only on smart phone). Last drive means the period during the smart phone is connected to display audio. For the details of contects below info will be shown on your smartphone. - Last drive time Distance of last drive Average speed of last drive Remaining distance (Remaining fuel amount on the back ground) - Average fuel efficiency of last drive Map to show the location you parked (you disconnected you phone from display audio) *Please note that the information displayed on car communication screen might differ according to display audio models. 4-38 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 4.13 Car Communication is not displayed QUESTION Car Communication screen is not displayed. Under what condition, will it be displayed? ANSWER You need to drive at least 1km in order to display car communication screen. Also, make sure that your smart phone is connected to display audio during the drive. 4-39 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 5 Reminder, Messages & Alerts This chapter provides some FAQs regarding Reminder/Messages function. 5-40 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 5.1 Reminder rules QUESTION What are the rules for reminders? How are Remind dates determined? ANSWER There are several rules according to each reminder type. 1. Reminders based on the Remind Me function By using the Remind Me function, you can set the event date for the Reminder by yourself. One month prior to the set date, reminders will show up. e.g. License Expiration 2. Part Maintenance Reminders For Part Maintenance Reminders, based on the parts information and Maintenance cycle set in the Maintenance function, the next parts Maintenance date is automatically calculated and the Maintenance date is set as the reminder. 3. Reminder set by Honda, Dealer Any communication items with a certain date set for individual members is sent by the Dealer as part of the reminder. e.g. Tax payments, next car inspection date, next service date, etc. 5-41 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 5.2 Messages rules QUESTION Who creates the contents of the Messages? ANSWER Contents of the Messages are created by Honda, Dealers and Honda-related companies. Contents that match the conditions are then sent to the users. Dealer staff registers the contents with using the following tools. Some of these contents include: ・ Communication from Honda Any communication related to the vehicle owned is sent by Honda. e.g. promotions, maintenance information related to the owned vehicle ・ Communication from Dealers Individual communications are sent by Dealers that are registered in the My Dealer list. e.g. Inspection information, promotions related to the owned vehicle ・ Communication from related companies Information on lease finance service e.g. Next payment date, contract expiry date information 5-42 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 6 Maintenance This chapter provides some FAQs regarding Maintenance function. 6-43 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 6.1 Maintenance Screen “Get Started” QUESTION On the Maintenance screen,”Get Started” is displayed but parts information is not displayed. Why? ANSWER In order to use the Maintenance function, other than selecting the vehicle, other mandatory items are required, such as Registration date and Annual mileage. If there are items that have not been set, this screen will appear. When clicking on the "Get Start" button, the screen to set the mandatory items will appear. Once setting the mandatory items, the Maintenance function can be used. 6-44 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 6.2 Maintenance: Rules of parts which appear on Maintenance screen QUESTION I would like to know if there are any rules which part will appear on the maintenance screen. ANSWER For Honda vehicles, standard parts defined by Honda are automatically displayed. Also, for non-Honda vehicles and Honda of which we do not have master data, a fix amount of 6 parts are defined. The fixed 6 parts are:Engine Oil, Air Cleaner Element, Engine Oil Filter, Engine Coolant, Air Cleaner Filter, Transmission Fluid. 6-45 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 6.3 Blue bar and period in the Maintenance QUESTION What does the blue bar and the period in the screen below represent? 1. 2. ANSWER Blue bar(1.) indicates time since the last maintenance log. When this blue bar reaches the right end, it indicates the time to get maintenance. Period(2.) indicates the time remaining until the due date. 6-46 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 6.4 Maintenance: Calculation method of remaining period until the next maintenance date QUESTION I would like to know the calculation method of the remaining period until the next maintenance date (below indicate with red circles). ANSWER First, the recommended maintenance date is calculated based on when the parts were installed (for new cars, when the car was first released), and the maintenance cycle assigned to each part. It then displays the difference between the recommended maintenance date of each part and the today’s date. 6-47 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 6.5 Maintenance: Add new parts QUESTION I would like to add some new parts as maintenance items. ANSWER You cannot register for new parts. Only parts predefined by Honda automatically appear on this screen, Also, you can not delete any of the existing parts tiles. 6-48 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 6.6 Maintenance: Set preferred distance cycle QUESTION I would like to set a preferred distance cycle. ANSWER For distance cycles, there is a maximum and minimum value assigned by Honda. Only the distances between these limits can be set. This also applies to period as well. Based on the maximum and minimum values set in each part, the distance or period that can be set has already been decided and cannot be changed. Please select the closest distance or period from the choices provided. 6-49 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 6.7 Maintenance: Change previous history QUESTION I would like to change previous history of part maintenance. ANSWER You can change by tapping the history you wish to change previous data. You can change Odometer, Date, Cost and Notes. 6-50 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 6.8 Maintenance: Add Maintenance Log QUESTION I would like to update maintenance log. ANSWER You can add by using "Add Log". 6-51 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 6.9 Maintenance: Revert revised cycle to the default value QUESTION I have changed Remind me cycle by myself. However, I would like to revert the revised cycle back to the default value. ANSWER Use "Default settings" to revert back to the default value. 6-52 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 7 Settings This chapter provides some FAQs regarding Settings. 7-53 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 7.1 Change e-mail address QUESTION I want to change the e-mail address that I am using as my Login ID. ANSWER Go to Settings -> User -> User Detail Settings to change your Login ID. This application uses the e-mail address as Login ID. To prevent error, you are required to enter the same e-mail address twice. After making changes, you are required to Sign In using the new Login ID. 7-54 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 7.2 Change password QUESTION I want to change the password used during Sign In. ANSWER Go to Settings -> User -> Change Password to change your password. After making changes, you are required to Sign In using the new password. 7-55 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 7.3 Do not need Reminders/Messages QUESTION Since I do not need any Reminders or Messages, is there any way to change the settings so I would no longer be receiving them? ANSWER Yes. Go to Settings -> User -> Notification Setting, and set any data items to that you will no longer want to receive to "Unreceived". Afterwards, you will no longer receive any data items. However, if you change it to “Received”, take note that previous messages cannot be retrieved. 7-56 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 7.4 What is My Dealer? QUESTION What functions are featured in the My Dealer settings? ANSWER When registering My Dealer, you can receive messages regarding information provided by your Dealer. You can also check contact information of your dealer in case when your vehicle encounters any problems. Information provided such as: Information regarding your registered vehicle Promotions Information regarding maintenance 7-57 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 8 General This chapter provides FAQ on common occurrences in the HondaLink application. 8-58 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 8.1 Connection Lost QUESTION When using the application, “Connection Lost” message appeared. After tapping “Retry” button, it still displays the message “Connection Lost”. What should I do? ANSWER When you cannot connect to the server, the “Connection Lost” message will be displayed. Check your network connection first, and if the network connection has recovered, try to tap on the “Retry” button again to reconnect. 8-59 HondaLink Application Administration Guide 8.2 Change display language QUESTION I want to change the displayed language on screen.
