The Call of the Wild PowerPoint or Prezi Project Requirements Create a PowerPoint or Prezi Presentation and present it to the class. The requirements are: 1. Pick a topic that interests you. 2. Create a presentation with 8 to 12 slides. 3. The first slide will have the title and your name on it. 4. The last slide will have your sources (most likely websites) listed. 5. Do not put more than 25 words total on a slide. 6. Use bullet points, not complete sentences, on a slide. 7. Images should be included on at least 4 slides. 8. When you present, do not read the slide as is. You will elaborate on the bullet points. 9. Have your presentation memorized, needing only the bullet point prompts on the screen to help you. 10. Speak to the audience, not to the screen. Speak clearly and loud enough for all to hear. Find possible topics below: Research Topics for PowerPoint or Prezi Presentation The Iditarod – what it is, how to prepare for, the story of a particular musher and team, etc. Huskies -- description of the breed, traits, uses, etc. Breeding Dogs for Sled Racing – types of dogs used, the story of a breeder, etc. Immigration to the US in the 1800’s – from where were people coming and why, where did they settle, etc. Klondike Gold Rush – time frame, locations, famous individuals, legends surrounding, etc. Charles Darwin—theories, background, perceptions of his work, theories of evolution and survival of the fittest, etc. Survival of the Fittest—description of the theory, examples, how the theory relates to the novel, etc. Yellowstone Ecosystems—the food chain, species dependency on each other, descriptions of thriving species, etc. Wolves—re-introduction to Yellowstone, behaviors of the pack, traits, etc. Dogsledding—the culture surrounding dogsledding, a particular story, etc. Jack London—biography, interesting facts, believes, his writing, influences, etc. Farming in the Santa Clara Valley—what crops, how has it evolved over time, etc. Man-Dog Relationship—a particular story, theories about why this relationship is so strong, etc. Northern Lights—explanation of their formation, legends surrounding, etc. The Arctic—description of the land, climate, and adaptations of local people, etc. Native People in Northern North America—how they have adapted, descriptions of First Nation tribes, beliefs and legends, etc. Analysis of Themes in Call of the Wild—survival, friendship, living to the full potential of the species, poverty breeds desperation, etc. The Novels of Jack London—an analysis or description of any of his other novels Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs—how this hierarchy relates to the themes in The Call of the Wild. Animal Rights—descriptions of past attitudes compared with current, efforts to protect animals, etc. Global Warming—how it relates to Arctic regions Topic of your choice related to any theme or topic in The Call of the Wild.
