Our preschoolers pres will review the color wheel and use it to select colors for painting. We will investigate wheels that help people in their everyday lives, wheels that are not used for transportation, people who have jobs working with wheels, and the energy sourcee that makes wheels go. We love wheels! MARK YOUR CALENDARS Mr. Meckes teaches the Three’s class about wheels; so interesting! Preschool Investigative Study: Wheels We began our investigative study on wheels by asking, “What do we know about wheels?” Wheels are on cars and trucks and other things that go. They are made of rubber and sometimes called tires. Wheels are round and some things have more wheels than other things. Then we talked about “What we wanted to find out about wheels?” Our children are curious about the different kinds of wheels, how wheels are made, what they are made of, and where you buy wheels? What are the biggest and smallest kinds of wheels, how fast can wheels go, and what makes that loud noise when mom or dad slams on the brakes? In our interest centers this month, we’ll compare several different types of wheels, find out what makes wheels rotate, and build ramps for rolling wheeled heeled toys. We’ll keep lists of observations, discoveries, and new vocabulary about wheels. We’ll count, sort and categorize the collection of 1 Begin Letters to North Pole 8 Museum visit: Dinosaur Discovery 10 Create Gingerbread Houses 11 Spanish with Ms. Mariela 15 Snowball Drop:Toddler’s/Two’s Toddler’s/Two’s 16 Classroom Caroling 22 Jingle Bell Parade 23 Children’s Classroom Parties 24 CLOSED: Merry Christmas 25 CLOSED Fitness Fridays 4 11 18 Swing & Jump Rope Kick Hard Galloping In The Community See the Events Calendar on our website for additional information! The library is always peaceful and quiet . . . until one night when some of the animals stir up a little trouble (and a little fun!) in the Midnight Library.” NC Museum of Natural Science Alex is exploring the process of art by scribbling, great job Alex. Why Creative Activities? The holidays are a wonderful time for art and music. Creative activities show toddlers that they can do interesting things by themselves. When toddlers can do things by themselves, we step back and admire and talk about what they are doing. Scribble drawings and other art work is hung up for all to see. Toddlers like to be admired for what they have made all by themselves, not what they have copied. Daily, our children are involved in exploring the process of art. The process of art is gluing, collaging, scribbling, and painting in a free form style. Music activities add a lot to the children’s day. Songs help infants and toddlers practice the words they are just learning to say. Moving to music helps children learn that they can use their muscles in many different ways. Dinosaur Discovery Fossils tell us about the past. We will find out some of the things paleontologists know from studying fossils. We will learn about some of these prehistoric wonders while comparing dinosaurs to some animals that live today. CHILDREN’S BIRTHDAYS Lucas S. Maya W. Harper R. Daniel W. Genevieve Y. Banks H.
