2017 Fishing Regulations - Åmot River Association
Regulations for the Glomma, Søndre Rena (including Løpsjøen to Storsjødammen), Åsta, Julussa and Søre Osa to
Valmendammen in the Åmot Municipality.
Please note special closure dates and fly fishing only zones.
1. Fishing License:
Everyone over 16 years of age must purchase a
fishing license. The license allows for fishing with 1
rod at a time. Licenses are for personal use only
and are non-transferrable. Valid only with Legal
Identification.
Children under 16 years old fish for free. Åmot River
Association asks that children also respect and
follow the fishing regulations put in place to
maintain a healthy water system.
Between Glomstadfoss bridge and Rena Bridge it is
permitted to fish with a planer board. The Glomma
License is also valid in Løpsjøen.
3. Supervision:
A valid fishing license must be shown to anyone
who asks. When purchasing a license you also
agree to show all of your equipment and give a
detailed catch report.
4. Statistics:
All anglers agree to report their catches, their
fishing methods, etc. for analysis
5 a. Protection dates:
In addition to regulations put in place by the
governor of Hedmark County, please note the
following:
A fishing license must also be purchased for ice
fishing.
Søndre Rena: All fishing for trout between
December 1st and April 30th is forbidden with the
exception of Løpsjøen from Løpdammen to
Holmbo.
Failure to follow regulations will lead to a fine and
or arrest. Multiple violations may lead to ban,
wherein you will be refused a license in the
future.
Søre Osa: All fishing is forbidden between the 15th
of September to the 31st of May.
2. Bag limits and size limits:
Fish under the minimum size and over the
maximum size must be released even if they may
be harmed.
Søndre Rena, upstream from the power station
outlet:
Trout: No limits in size or quantity on stocked fish
(marked by clipped adipose). Only 1 wild
fish may be kept per angler per day. Wild
fish over 40 cm in length must be released.
Grayling: Bag limit of one grayling per angler per
day. Fish over 40 cm in length must be
released
Søndre Rena, Downstream from the power station
outlet:
Trout: No bag limit or size limit for stocked fish
(marked by clipped adipose). Bag limit of 3
wild fish per angler per day. Wild fish over
40 cm must be released
Grayling: Bag limit of 3 wild fish per day. Fish over
40 cm must be released.
Glomma River:
Minimum size limit for trout and grayling is 30 cm.
Bag limit of 5 trout and 5 grayling per angler per
day.
All trout caught during the trout protection time
window must be released even if they may be
injured.
5 b. Protected Areas:
The river section below Løpdammen Dam is
protected from the dam to the sign at the tail out
of the first pool.
6. Tackle and Methods:
Søndre Rena:
• All fishing must be active, meaning it is
not allowed to fish with a standing line in
the water.
• Use of baitfish is not allowed.
• Barbless hooks only, and barbed hooks
must have the barbs pinched before use.
• There is a maximum of 3 hooks allowed
per rod. For example it is allowed to use
either one treble hook or up to three single
hooks.
• Fishing with worms as bait in Søndre Rena
is only allowed when using a circle hook.
• All anglers must have a knotless net and a
measuring tape on hand when fishing.
7. Fishing from Bridges:
All fishing from bridges is forbidden.
Tagged Fish:
Tags from tagged fish must be sent in with information including the date, place the fish was caught, length,
and weight to the following address:

8. Fishing from a Boat:
Fishing from a boat (including a canoe, kayak, belly
boat, etc.) is not allowed in the fly-fishing zone.
This includes section between Storsjødammen to
Rødhammeren (see map)
9. Unplanned Closures:
Fishing can be closed temporarily on grounds such
as high water temperatures, etc.
The Fly Fishing Zone
This zone includes the stretch of river from Storsjødammen Dam downstream to Rødhammeren (see map). Thi s
stretch is roughly 5 km long.
The general fishing regulations for Åmot River Association are enforced here, in addition to the following
regulations:
Tackle:
Fly fishing only. This
means that the line
provides the casting
weight when fishing.
Fishing from a boat:
Fishing from any
type of boat is not
allowed in the flyfishing zone.
Regulations for fishing in Åmot Municipality, Hedmark
Established by the Governer of Hedmark May 1st pursuant to the Act of May 15, 1992 pertaining to salmonids
and inland fish m.v. §§15 and 34 pursant to the act of November 27th, 1992.
§1. Opening Dates
All fishing with trout as the target species is forbidden from the 15 th of September to the 31st of October.
§2. Allowed Tackle
It is forbidden to use any type of net, trap, or other type of similar equipment when fishing for trout in
rivers and streams. All fishing with this type of equipment is also forbidden within 50 meters of the inlet
and outlet of standing water.
§3. Protected Areas
At the outlet of the Løpet power station all fishing is forbidden within 100m upstream of the fish stairs and
150m of the fish ladder, in a diagonal line.
At Storsjødammen all fishing is forbidden within a straight line crossing the river diagonally, which is 100
m from the fish ladder. This protected zone is clearly marked by signs.
At Valmendammen all fishing is forbidden within a marked zone with a diagonal border crossing the river

fish ladder and 100 meters downstream from the fish ladder.
At Mæhlfallet in Julussa all fishing is forbidden within a marked zone with a diagonal border starting 50m
across the river of the fish ladder and 150m downstream of the fish ladder.
§4. Ikrafttreden
This regulation will come into force immediately. From the same time, the Regulations of 6 February 1986 No.
360 concerning the fishing in Åmot, Regulations of 15 March 1976 on Lake Osens with adjacent watercourses in
Åmot and Trysil municipalities are repealed, Regulations of 1 May 1980 concerning fishing in Rendalen
Municipality with the part of Storsjøen, located in Åmot municipality and regulation of 25 January 1977 on the
fish stairs at Løpet power plant and Storsjø dammen.
