Jason and Emily - Adoption Connections

Being goofy!
Baby, it’s cold outside!
Date night!
GO BLUE!
Dear Birthparent(s),
We would first like to thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and considering
us to be the parents of your precious little one. Thank you for letting us share a little bit
about us with you.
We applaud your courage and the love you are showing for your unborn child in choosing
adoption and pray that you find the right family to adopt your baby. We could not possibly
understand what you are going through during this process, but we can promise you this – if you
choose us to be your baby’s parents, we will love your child with all of our hearts and provide for
him or her the best life we possibly can. We will raise our child to love God and to love life. We
will empower our child to be the best person he or she can be.
As a couple, we always knew adoption was going to be a part of our lives. Jason found out at
the age of 19 that he could not have biological children, and Emily had always wanted to be able
to provide a home to a child through adoption. We have so much love to share, and have always
wanted children! We look forward to the day we can bring home our little bundle of joy. Below
we share with you a poem we wrote for our families to announce our adoption plans!
With love and thanks,
Emily and Jason
We may not have an ultrasound
Or a test with two bands,
But by God’s grace,
Our family will soon expand.
Not flesh of our flesh,
Nor bone of our bone,
But by the miracle of adoption,
Still our very own.
Pink or blue We may not yet know,
But soon there will be a little one
To love and watch grow.
Precious cries and giggles,
And two tiny feet,
A child to love,
There’s simply nothing quite as sweet.
Jason and Emily met on a blind date in 2003. After we had both tried to turn down their
request many times, we finally gave in to our friends Matt and Rayah and agreed to meet.
Turns out, sometimes other people know best – and God always has a plan – because we
have been attached at the hip ever since! We were married in a beautiful ceremony on July
29, 2006. We are grateful to have very supportive family and friends!
Together we feel that we can accomplish anything. We share a fun-loving nature and a
good sense of humor. Both of us are pretty goofy, but we are equally down-to-earth. We
love to laugh together, but are not afraid of tears. Our favorite activities include playing
with our pets, gardening, good food – both cooking and eating, watching movies, traveling
and camping, playing games (video and board), and spending time with our families and
friends. We also try to visit a zoo or aquarium wherever we travel! As individuals, Emily
loves Zumba and reading, and Jason enjoys golf and fishing.
We lead a pretty simple day-to-day life. Most nights are spent at home simply enjoying
each other’s company. We share a view that God watches over us and leads us through life
with a guiding hand. We believe that being raised to love God is important. We are
Christians and belong to a local Methodist church.
We both work full time and enjoy our jobs. Jason is employed as a retail sales associate at a
major home improvement store; he also has had his hand in plumbing, real estate, home
remodeling/repair, and law enforcement. He is definitely Mr. Fix-It! Emily works as a
family nurse practitioner, and prior to that worked as a pediatric nurse for many years.
Jason is a high school graduate and Emily has a master’s degree in nursing.
We live in a three bedroom ranch style home with a barn on three acres in a quiet, safe neighborhood.
We have lots of land for possible farm animals, swimming pool, or whatever else we can dream up! We
also have a partially finished basement that we hope to someday make into a game room/den with a
couple of bonus rooms. We live in a town of around 50,000 population, with easy drives to Chicago,
Indianapolis, Toledo, and southwest Michigan. We are also in a great school district!
Most importantly, we feel that this is a great place to raise a family!
Through Emily’s Eyes
The first thing that attracted me to Jason – besides his
obvious good looks ☺ – was his sense of humor. He
brightens my every day with his laughter and his smile.
Jason is a kid at heart! He loves to play with our nieces
and nephews and he loves playing with our pets. He even
loves to initiate tickle fights with me!
One of the reasons I fell in love with Jason was the
relationship he had with his mother. They were the best
of friends and he respects and loves her in the way that
all mothers deserve. I knew he would be a good husband
because of this relationship, and I know he will be a
wonderful father. I see the look of awe in Jason’s eyes
when he sees a father and child, and I know the love that
he would give to our child is beyond imagination.
Watching him play with our nieces, our nephews, and our
friends’ children melts my heart.
Jason is my rock. His strength and ability to love
everyone around him is incredible. He is kind, honest,
trustworthy, hard working, compassionate, intelligent,
and loyal. He is my best friend. He is the “yin” to my
“yang.” He truly makes me want to be a better version of
myself, and he helps me achieve that goal. Jason makes
me believe that there is nothing in this world that is
bigger than me, especially with him on my side, and I
know he will do the same for our children.

Jason Through the Years
Through Jason’s Eyes
The day I met Emily put a huge smile of my face. She has a great
sense of humor, amazing personality, and is beautiful inside and out.
I knew shortly after we began dating that she was going to be the
one for me. Emily and I can talk about anything and everything;
during our dates we used to just sit and talk and laugh until our
bellies hurt. That has not changed to this very day!
Emily has always had a special heart for children. When we first
met she was a pediatric nurse at our local hospital. She loved
taking care of all the kids and always had very touching stories of
them. The look in her eyes and the joy in her voice as she told me
about her day told me that she would be a great mother one day.
When we are out and about, she always points out the “babies” and
if we are anywhere near a child, they always smile at her like they
just know she is meant to be a mom.
My Favorite Pics of Emily
I can’t wait until the day we welcome our new child into our loving
home, and that look will be on Emily’s face once again. It will be
beyond priceless. At that moment I will know that everything we
have been through will all come together and we will have our own
family. Emily will be the best mom a child could ask for. The
memories that we have made as a couple will be shared with our
new bundle of joy as we continue to make new ones!
Emily Through the Years
Jason’s parents are Randy and Betty. Randy lives
about five minutes away from us and is one of our
biggest supporters. Unfortunately, Betty passed
away in January 2012 quite suddenly. They had
a happy marriage of over 30 years. We are very
close to Jason’s parents; we typically get together
at least once a week. As a family we enjoy
Michigan football, camping, traveling, and just
hanging out! Jason’s sister Angie, brother Jamie,
and sister-in-law Joann are also close by, as well
as our nieces and nephews Brandon, Alex, James,
Jenna, and Jacob. The kids range in age from 5th
grader to college graduate! Jason has always been
very close to the oldest two, Brandon and Alex,
and was often their babysitter, confidant, and
mentor. He even acted as Boy Scout counselor and
driving teacher for the boys! We love James,
Jenna, and Jacob beyond belief, and have fun
memories of playing with them! We are also very
close to Angie’s ex-husband Blake – after all, he
has been a big part of Jason’s life for over 25 years
and was the best man at our wedding!

Emily’s parents are Paul and Kay, and they are
beyond excited for us to bring a little one into our
lives – they are definitely some of our biggest
supporters! Unfortunately, we live about four hours
away from them, so we don’t get to visit as often as
we would like. When we are able to get home, we
enjoy spending as much quality time together as we
can! Paul and Kay have been married since 1973!
They have always been there for us as a married
couple. We would not be where we are today
without them. Emily has one sister Claire and a
brother-in-law Chris, as well as niece Izzy and
nephew Jax. Claire is one of Emily’s best friends
and Izzy and Jax are the lights of our world!
Although they too live about four hours away, we
talk to them almost every day. Emily is Izzy’s
Godmother and is honored to be able to be a part of
her life in such a way!

We lovingly call Louie “old
man.” Everything that he does
is slow and calculated. He is
fiercely loyal to us and
is a great cuddler! He
LOVES kids!
Nico is a pretty
typical kitty- all
things are done by his
rules and he is king of the castle!
He loves head rubs and playing
with socks! He is fully declawed.
Wally loves to be the
center of attention.
He is a lover, but is
always up for a good play
session. He is always by our
sides and is a great companion.
Play time!
Best friends!
